You will get to a place that you will feel comfortable giving away the older clothes. In 21 and early 22 my grandson that lives with us, he is turning 8, went through 3 changes. The first 2 were because of size the 3 change is because he is developing his own style and apparently he decided he wanted holes in his jeans and cut them. He also wanted longer t-shirt and no more dino or "baby" looking shirts. They grow so fast and your oldest is coming on to that stage next. Its hard but talking with them makes you so proud of the person they are becoming.

I still have baby/ preschool clothes from my two children. They are now 17 and 13. Everytime I plan to declutter them ...I cant seem to let them go. Hopefully one day😊 I can pretty much declutter anything else but that. I do plan on purchasing 2 linen zipped storage containers and only saving what fits in them. Wish me luck. I kept so much of the stuff from my kids when they were little and just now decluttered most of it. My kids are 22 and 21. 😂 I figured I would buy my grandkids (if I have some) new and the kids would probably appreciate that more. Letting go is hard though.

You did a great job! I know it is hard to let go of those clothes, you need to try to look forward, perhaps going through those clothes 6 months down the road and only keeping what you might use for another baby or those special outfits you mentioned like a 1st birthday. At some point you can't keep everything and the space it takes to maintain ends up being more clutter. I do think as they grow you will be able to let go easier. Sutton is only a year old and he is basically a new baby, and that is very hard, your birth emotions are still in tack! As time moves forward it will become less of an emotional journey. Take Care!

Yes 🥺 it is so hard. I intentionally bought the “special” bins in a small size so I’d be forced to keep less. But we definitely have a lot of clothes stored in our basement so at some point I will have to thin out the collection! I’m just not quite ready yet.

Today (well, this evening) I am completely cleaning up the living room, which includes mopping. It is not really a mess, but it is empty except for a couple of end tables since 2 housemates have moved out and I will be moving out in March. I am also cleaning my room and packing up stuff but I have too much yarn and books so I have to decide what to donate to the library for their annual sale, what yarn to donate to my crocheting group and donate the washer & dryer and bookshelves to a local transcending(?) (for people going from a homeless shelter to their own place).

I just started buying all my kids new sock one brand for the girls, one girl get white, one gets black and one gets grey. Same for the 3 boys just with a different brand so I know who's are who's and they all match😅

Maybe taking a photo of your children in the actual clothes will help you to declutter them more easily. I think having a picture of them in the actual clothes would be better than having the clothes. Just an idea. Good video, thank you!

My kid had 1/5 od yours clothes and still didn’t wear everyrhing. The less the better for me 😅

It looks like a lot more than it is because there were so many sizes mixed in! But if you watch until the end he only had one drawer of pjs, one that was all shirts/pants combined and then one little section for onesies. Only 3 dresser drawers and they’re not even full! The other 3 drawers I store bath towels, hand me down shoes to grow into, and his personal care type products/extra diapers. I don’t feel like he has too much ☺️
