This is devastating to watch...I worked here for almost 3yrs - just resigned for a new job closer to home on 6/4 and today was my first day on the new job when I suddenly started getting text messages from former co-workers right after they got out of the plant. Fortunately, no one was injured but pretty much everyone is out of a job. So sad...and it's 1165 Prairie Hill Road...not Prairie Road Hill

I call BS on them "not knowing" what chemical pollutants are being pumped into the air. The company is required to have Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on every hazardous material they work with. Not to mention that there are people at that company whose job it is to know what is held on site and in what quantities. They should have already given this information to fire and health officials.

@vawest2052
@vawest2052 3 жыл бұрын
Most chemical plants are zoned as commercial/industrial property, that usually requires a certain distance from private homes and businesses. It's different from state to state, laws in my state dictate that a 2 mile radius needs to be maintained around the chemical plant that is clear of the public, in case of explosion. But says nothing around the proximity to rivers or streams, how convenient, especially since most chemical facilities are near water or directly connected to a river. We just had a major explosion in Belle, West Virginia and it didn't even make the news, killed people, poured more poison into the river and not a peep in the media. There are twice as many chemical spills happening right now, know one will ever hear about. People can live hundreds of miles from chemicals but once those poisons are in the air and water it spreads everywhere. They find lead and plastic in the blood of polar bears thousands of miles away from such pollutants, so we thought, chemicals are chemicals no matter how far away you build the facilities. Greed and cost cutting by these manufacturers is killing everyone and everything in their path. It won't stop til were all dead and no one is left to buy their sh-t.

There are as stated in the video and the reply before mine. The company produces grease, cutting fluids and oils also coolants for machine tools. Normally very safe stuff unless disposed of improperly or on fire obviously. I wouldn’t be breathing that smoke also I am sure the powers that be are going to let it burn out unless they can get helicopters and or planes to drop fire retardant. Nobody was killed so far but I am sure the nearby Rock River will suffer a great deal of pollution.

They were concerned about chemicals getting into the Rock River, so they stopped using water. They're just going to let it burn down; said it could take around 3 days, but you know it will smoulder for a while.
