I am in Ford heaven! I have studied Mustang's my whole Adult life. I am 59 years old. Never had the money or the time to buy a Muscle car. I rented a 2007 Shelby Hertz Gold and Black convertible. From the Airport in Indianapolis. It was the high light of my driving life! I wanted to experience the rental muscle car era myself. Like in the 60's. When I got there to the airport rental office there where 7 Hertz Gold and Black convertibles sitting in a row. I was blown away! I stood there as they drove my Hertz Mustang rental to the office I video taped it. The whole process. It was a amazing weekend and exspensive too. Well over a $ 1000.00. But it was worth all the money and waiting months to go to live out my dream! The motor had the wire on it so they could check to see if the motor was taken out. I even dragged a Colbalt SS on that Saturday afternoon. From stoplight to stoplight with the top down and wife in the car. He got spanked and did a U turn at the next light. Never to be seen again. Shawn

Yep, it's called a monopoly. When you have a bunch of rich guys that hoard all the rare or cool stuff, they drive up the prices on them to increase the value of what they own. Making it harder and harder for the average person to own anything cool.

Don't let Chip Foose get a hold of any of these cars, he'll cut, chop, put his crappy looking wheels on and remove the extremely valuable original engines and throw in LS chevy based crate engines! He'll devalue and ruin every one of these cars! From the early to mid 1980's I had a red 1970 Mach I 428 CJ. Sold it with 39,000 original miles for $6,000. Boy I wish I would have kept it. In the early/mid 1970's my father had a 1969 Mach 428 CJ. He sold it during the 1973-74 Arab oil embargo. I think he got like $1,600 for it. Hindsight.

What a great guy, love the passion he has for the history of these special mussel cars! I had two Mustangs, my first two cars, as a teenager. The first was a 70 Mach 1, 428SCJ Drag Pack car that was in pieces when I bought it. A a kid I would walk by it everyday on my way to school and thought I’ll have one someday and in 1982 I fulfilled my dream! While I worked to restore this car over the winter my dad and I picked up a 69 coupe with a 351W factory 4 barrel as my daily driver. On a side note I noticed 2 Honda 70’s in the shop which I also had, fond memories there as well! Kid’s today don’t have the same passion for hands on work the just have someone else do the work and drive them around as if they put their own blood sweat and tears into building the car what a shame!

Props to you for doing such a great job in preserving our blue oval cars. My dad was a Ford racer from the late fifties to mid 70's. He passed away about 10 years ago. I myself am a blue oval guy. I have a very good knowledge of the performance Ford motors. I acquired a huge amount of that from reading his 100's of factory dealer brouchers that were every where I'm the house. At 1 time I could tell you if you had a open carrier 9 or 8 inch rear end and what gear it was just from the door tag..I still retain a good bit of the engine info. It can be a curse at time when you hear or see someone who is claiming they have this or that when you know they don't. Which brings up a question. ? You said that 64.5 k code was a 289 Hipo car. My 64 Sprint was a 260hipo car. And I was under the impression the 64 cars were all 260's ? Is it because the Mustangs we're a half rather than just a 64? I know of a Griffin that is also a 64 260 Hipo car. Anyway I want to say if you still reading I eventually will get back to my sister's place who still lives int parents house. Those dealer brouchers are still there. They featured things like dealer installed cross boss 1400 cfm carb for the Boss 302 etc. There is probably 100 of them. I'll find them and send them to you. You are the person that will keep and make use of them. Tons of details that are the bible of Ford knowledge

My name is Ewerton Saavedra. I have a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 original 429 SCJ in Brazil. My car is the one of one Mustang 429 SCJ in my country, Brazil. My car was bought and imported to Brazil in 1971 and was on the cover of the most popular automotive magazine here, called 4 weels (4 Rodas), in the May 1971 issue. I bought the car after finding it abandoned in the back of a workshop in year 2001 for R$1,500.00. That's the current equivalent of only about $350.00. At the time, here in Brazil, nobody wanted these types of cars. I got lucky.

Rick and his crew restored my 1969 Super Cobra Jet Mach 1 15 years ago and it is now back in his shop for a freshening up. I am the original owner of the car. Rick did a spectacular job on my car bringing it back to original condition after many years on the dragstrip and then collecting dust in my garage. Rick lives and breaths these cars. All you need to do do is talk to him to realize the passion he has for them. Additionally he, his wife Jacquie, Larry and the crew are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. If you're ever in Columbus and drop into their shop they will welcome you like you are old friends.

I was 22 at the time. Has 75,000 original miles. Would love to have these guys do mine but many folks say my car still looks good and to leave it alone as it worth more. I remember looking at a Boss 302 orange black stripe and black interior over in west Racine, Wisconsin parked behind a garage back in about 1989-1990. It had some rust on lower panels, but had original engine and was complete. Guy was asking about $3k, which for a 19 year old broke kid might as well have been $30k! I wonder if that car was ever saved...wished I had the cash...another "if only" story.

Did not realize my new mic was directional - which most of the time was pointed at the speaker. To be fair, isn't the hard to hear audio a very small portion of the movie, like a few seconds here and there? Most of the time I have a professional mic pointed at the speaker.

Sorry for that, I've gotten very mindful of that in the year or so since then.

To answer the question over the Pinto being a horse or a pony. The word pinto just means "painted", meaning a horse or pony(or anything really) that has a shade of color to it. In horses, it would signify an animal with two or more colors on it's coat :-)
