Shorter heating up time (only 3 quarts) and no sloshing about with water. Just do a quick release when done, and you're ready for the next batch of bottles. 👍🏻

I just finished watching 4 of your videos today, including you and your son turning over your garden. I've been watching/subscribed since I started fermenting with fruit kvas last summer and I just want to give you a tip for making perfect green tea. I recommend loose leaf tea 🍃 to save you the headache of opening bags and to only steep for no more than 4 minutes. It's easy to ruin green tea because it is so delicate. A huge study in China says that after 3-4 minutes, higher levels of toxic substances are released, also making it bitter. It should be light green in color, never dark. I get my loose leaf green tea from the Asian market here in Pedasí, Panamá. Good luck❣️

Hubs is a beer and wine maker, and he has carboys with spouts/spigots/valves (whatever you wanna call them) on them. I was thinking that one carboy would be great for what you are doing, as a way to help you fill your bottles. He puts his full carboy in the middle of one side of the table, grabs a crate and sits in front it, with the empty bottles on one side and the full ones put to the other side. It has an on/off valve, and the opening fits perfectly into a beer bottle. I'm thinking he paid somewhere between $30-50 for them, I don't think they were that expensive. Even with the brownness of the bottle, he can still see his fill line, so he doesn't overfill unless he has had too many sips of beer...lol. Then he is just silly. But anyway, something to think about. I loved watching your process with such a large batch. That was pretty amazing!

I am certain there are some good events here I just can't think of any at the moment. We do have a pretty big farmer's market downtown pretty much all summer long on Saturdays. Anywho, one thing I'm taking away from this video is that kombucha will still be okay if you get back to it right away 😊 I really need to try making some at home. I’m just using a large glass dispenser I got from Ross or somewhere like that. If your water kefir grew a scoby you’re keeping it too close to kombucha. I’m not sure if it can be “saved” without getting new grains but it might be a tasty new treat

Really a great video on your process. I am looking forward to your tutorial on making kombucha. I do have a question. Does the digital acidic reader work better than the dip sticks? I started my own scoby as I was drinking so much kombucha it was getting expensive. I love what I am getting out of my scoby, but when I check the acidity with the little blotter sticks, it never seems to go below 4.0 or 3.9. It can get rather tangy, so I am thinking the blotter sticks may not be as accurate. I also do water kefir and milk kefir, so I am always drinking some sort of fermented drink.
@FermentedHomestead9 ай бұрын
The meter is more accurate. If it’s pretty ripe and only reading those numbers your strips are likely inaccurate
