Massive Montana Field Fire!!!!!!!! 2021 Wheat Harvest
Today's video is all about the massive 1000 plus acre field fire that started at our neighbor's farm. Uncle Chris gets the big John Deere tractor and disk over to the fire to try to help. They went to try to disk up the soil so that it would create a fire barrier to protect the wheat crops. The problem is this fire got really big really fast due to the wind and it was very dangerous. There were 5 volunteer fire departments to help. There are at least 5 big tractors disking fire barriers. The fire spread into the coulee where Campbell Aviation flew in with his plane to try to help stop the fire by air. It burned through the coulee pretty fast and got into our stubble field. It burned a crop of wheat and it kept burning in the coulee for 3 days. Grandpa and Dad talk about the fire and their experience with other fires. We are all safe and so are our neighbors. This fire started when a combine bearing went out at the neighbor's place. The wind helped the fire get started and before they could put it out, it was out of control. Fires are very dangerous for people, wildlife, buildings, equipment, and crops. We are very blessed and grateful that no one was injured because nothing matters more than life. We also can't thank our volunteer firefighters enough for their dedication and courage!!!!!!! I hope you like my video and thank you for watching.

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 17-year-old 4th generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

I volunteer on the fire department in a farming community... Seen lots of scary fires... I'm actually to busy farming to be dedicated to Fire Department.... But somebody has to do it, help when I can.... One of the few volunteer jobs I do where people come up to me, to let me know they appreciate it!!! Fires can get very serious...very dangerous FAST!!! Big thanks to neighbors and people who are willing to fight these fires. Fighting fires and farming at the same time have made for some long days and nights!! Great video lets people realize how stressful farming can be at times... Farming is never boring always an unexpected situation coming up!!!

Thank you for your great comment and for your service in the fire department. We really appreciate those who are volunteer firefighters because they are the real heroes. All our neighbors help with tractors and discs because it doesn't take long to burn 10,000 acres. It is amazing how quickly our volunteer firefighters can get organized and on the scene! We are very grateful that everyone was safe and so were the animals.

When I was a kid, in the 1950's, I used to ride the train from the titanium mine way up in the Adirondack high mountains down to the port of Albany, NY. The heavy trains and hot iron brake shoes would spark fires all the way down out of the mountains. At night, you could see a ring of fire around the wheels. The fire companies would all go on alert when they heard us coming, blowing the horn for the crossings.... Glad you're all safe and the Lord switched the wind around! WillyB

Talk it over with your dad and grandpa and then you won't have so much anxiety and will be better prepared for what ever might happen. Thank you Kate . Great observation. I agree. Listening to the calm approach your father takes in light of the situation, that is a man I would be happy to have around in a stressful times . I am not a farmer so I have no idea how much damage a field fire can do. I do happen to know that natural fires occur in the forest all the time and I feel so bad for the livestock being in danger and having to find new places to live but in the long run the fire does the land a lot of good making the soil fresh again and ready to start over. I hope you all stay safe and I really enjoy your reporting Kate. Your doing a great job.

I think these farmers need to look into the old way or preventing fires from jumping between different farms, it's called a fire break. It's a stretch of green grass, cut regularly at the edge of your property and/or by roads. Preventive is better

It shows how important it is to have equipment like the disk and water trucks on hand for harvest. If it isn't lightning, it is dust and chaff in the combines. In my part of Northeastern MT we have fires in places it takes an hour or more for the fire department to get to. The locals are great at trying to get the fires out. My hat is off to them!

This year in North Dakota we've lost a lot of acreage to fires because of the cigarette flickers out the window on our highways! Good coverage of this fire looks like it went a long way up that Cooley. Good Drone footage showed where the disc did their thing! I enjoy your interviews with your granddad, I see where your father gets his sense of humor.

Wow Kate, this brings back memories. I grew up about 25 miles South of you and had some similar experiences with field fires. They can really move. You keep up the video making, I'm really enjoying them. I think you and Peterson Bros in Kansas (and many others for sure) are doing a great job educating people on farm life.

Hello Kate. That was really a huge fire. Thanks god nobody is injured. Sometimes here are fires too but mostly then in the forest but also on fields. Sometimes because of technical problems with combines or tractors and balers which catch fire. But there are also some idiots, who lays fires willfully. God bless you and your family. Kind regards from Bavaria, Germany. 😀👍

@@KatesAg@KatesAg Well, Kate, when a laundry detergent company approaches you to advertise on their most popular soap opera, you'll know you've hit the big time! Is that possible? Kate, anything is possible when you put the time and effort into it. I am so addicted to your videos I don't know what I would do with myself if I didn't watch at least one of your videos each day. But I will not fall in love with you, as you are probably way out of my league. But I like to watch the videos all the same. But they are starting to get a little old. Stay well! Stay safe! Stay motivated for your future, and I will walk beside you on your journey.
