Hi Danno glad you took some time off to enjoy your family. Just a tip...if any of your viewers have a Hispanic store in your area be sure to go in and check out the meat section. Most of them have fresh cut meat at much cheaper prices. Most of them will offer packages at reduced costs. Sometimes they are way cheaper on rice and produce as well. My store this month had 25 pound bags of rice for 8.99 and whole pork shoulder for 1.99 a pound. So well worth checking these stores out for lower prices on meat and staples.

I walked into Sam's club yesterday specifically to buy chicken thighs but they were completely out. Pork loin was 1.98lb, which was a penny cheaper than GFS. The price on bacon has risen at Sam's, as had many other items. I got a fair deal on some first aid items, but we didn't get much else, as I am well set and the things that were real deals, or were items I don't need. I noticed the boxes of tomato sauce were a good buy, as were all the little individual 'lunch box' items. BTW, If anyone has a Rural King, their 12 count/1 pint Ball jars are only $8.89, where they are like 17.99 at Kroger and have gone up at Walmart as well. Their other jars are high. but these were the same price a couple weeks ago and I picked a box up for that price yesterday.They do have household and some food items. Many are high, but the gallons of cider vinegar were 2.99, which is fantastic. They have really good buys on personal protection, masks/wipes/sanitizers.(FYI, my brother's nursing home in Louisville is on quarantine again due to a major covid outbreak there. It hasn't gone away.) As a former professional baker, I can tell you that not all flour is equal, or just not suited to each application.There are differences in quality, milling, and blends of wheat. They can be hard wheat, soft wheats, more or less gluten, it's all different. No flour is universally good for each thing that you want to make, and some are definitely inferior, as with any product.

Danno, price update on some items at Stop & Shop in RI/MA. They use a pricing model called Low Price Zone. They prices quoted are from non-LPZ stores. Progresso soup: $4.29, up $.80 Chunky soup: $4.09, also up $.80 Wheat Chex: $5.49, up $.30 Campbell's condensed soups: $2.49, up $.30 The much-anticipated doubling of food prices by the end of the year is under way. The price increases which were in the pipeline for June are what you are seeing now. By the time the fourth quarter of this year rolls around, expect the shelf prices you see today to increase by another 50%. When you look at these people who are in the store doing their grocery shopping, maybe, and I mean maybe, 5 out of every 100 of them can actually understand what is right there in front of them: The grocery store shelf is telling them a currency collapse is under way. I would also advise anyone who is buying rice to be careful when they buy their rice. In the past three weeks, I've bought three five-pound bags of rice. One had an April 2024 code date. The other two had a February 2024 code date and a February 2022 born-on date. All were infested with grain beetles (the larvae is inside the product when it goes into the package) within three weeks of purchase. This was supposedly brand-new product, fresh out of the warehouse. I do pest control for a living, and I can tell you that this product was sitting in storage/transit for at least 18 months BEFORE it came through Long Beach. FOR ANY DRY BULK GRAIN PRODUCT TO BECOME INFESTED WITH GRAIN BEEETLES, INDIA MEAL MOTHS OR OTHER STORED PRODUCT PESTS, IT NEEDS TO BE SITTING AROUND FOR MONTHS TO YEARS. SUCH INFESTATIONS DO NOT HAPPEN IN BRAND-NEW PRODUCT IN THREE WEEKS. DO NOT GO BY THE CODE DATES ON RICE. IT IS VERY LIKELY THE PRODUCT IS OLDER THAN WHAT THE PACKAGE SAYS, AND THE SUPERMARKET OPERATOR LIKELY HAS NO CLUE HOW LONG THAT PRODUCT HAS BEEN SITTING AROUND BEFORE THEY TOOK POSSESSION OF IT. Most effective way to prevent stored product pest infestations of supposedly new dry bulk grains is to put them in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers, then heat seal them. I would use smaller bags for single use.

Will canned food last 10 years? In general, canned foods can last for decades after their "expiration" date. **What foods can be stored for 10 years? Foods that last 5 -10 Years: Pasta. White Rice. Dehydrated Fruit (5 years) Cornmeal. Barley. Rolled Oats. Quinoa. Rye. ***Can you eat something after Best used by date? Unlike "use-by", you do not need to consume a food before its best-before date, but the best-before does mean that food will retain its quality and be in the condition you would expect before this date. After this time, while the quality of the food may change, it will still be safe to eat if you wish to. ***Best Before date on the other hand tells you that the food is no longer in its perfect shape from that date. It may just lose its freshness, taste, aroma or nutrients. * It does not necessarily mean that the food is no longer safe to eat. ****Is it OK to eat "expired" canned food? While canned goods past their "Best-By" date may not taste optimal, there's no real health risk in consuming canned goods as long as they remain in good condition. ***How long do canned goods last past "expiration" date? High acid canned goods such as canned fruits, including tomatoes, should be eaten within 1-2 years past their "expiration date". Low acid canned goods like vegetables, canned meats, and soups should be eaten within 2-3 years past their "expiration" date.

What I don’t like about the Sam’s club in Sarasota off Fruitville and Cattlemen is they don’t have a gas station. That’s part of the advantage of having a club membership. 🤷♀️

Danno and Jess. How do you use digital coupons at Kroger's? I don't know how to use them.
@pearlperlitavenegas20232 жыл бұрын
I had trouble learning how to use them and finally asked at the customer service. Basically download the app link your card to the app them when you upload the digital deals scan the card on the app during checkout not your card or you won't get them. Its confusing so ask at the store
@ericastout45522 жыл бұрын
@@pearlperlitavenegas2023 I'm not able to go to the store myself. I have to let my aide go for me, with my list. Can she use it for me?
@AdventureswithDanno2 жыл бұрын
Yes Erica. All she need to do is put in your phone number. You can link everything from your computer to your plus card. Click on the digital coupons, and put them on your plus card, so they can just get the items, use your card(or phone number) and you will get the coupon off.
@americafirst91442 жыл бұрын
@@ericastout4552 You don't have to use the app. You can just set up an on-line account and link your store card to that. Then your shopper just needs to input your phone number at checkout. Kroger manages to overcharge me for about 3 items everytime I shop.

FYI The Members Mark water bottles (16.9 oz)… It used to be $4.68 for a pack of 45 bottles and now it’s $4.24 for a 40 pack. They removed 5 bottles, so it looks like you’re saving a bit, until you notice that 5 bottles are missing from the package.

Regular ground beef burger (chuck) is used in calculating the food inflation rate so every store offers it cheaply in cahoots with the govt to keep the official food inflation rate and cpi looking lower than ot really os

According to Fox News inflation is calculated not using food or gasoline prices, this was changed sometime when either Bush or Obama was in office. How we ended up with an inflation rate of 5% in May.

@@tenabarnes3269 gasoline is NOT part of the cpi because it is designed for an urban dweller. Food is. I don't rely on TV to program me. Do some research. 175 items
