I won't say that kids aren't horrible creatures but when you combine their youth with the pack mentality/hive mind of a child, you get these results. Most generations were assholes in their youth, the generations before them despaired, but most grew up to be adults who in their own turn despaired about the generations after them. Really it's just the circle of life/nature of the beast.

It's the adults in charge of these groups that are failing them and not keeping them within the appropriate bounds of behaviour. Unfortunately a lot of the accompanying adults of these groups don't seem to have much idea of the expected standard of behaviour either.

I can’t understand why most of the tourists stand and stare at the soldiers. The hubby and myself have been to Syntagma Square in Athens to see the official changing of the guard, and we didn’t see tourists up close and personal in their soldier’s faces. We observed them at a distance for a few minutes and that was it.

The people I am most annoyed with are the teachers. Where were they? I am a high school teacher and teach languages and have taken many groups of teenagers right across Europe to many countries. I would NEVER tolerate this kind of behaviour or allow such a big group to be without a member of staff. I suspect the man with a backpack stood to the right of them might possibly have been a teacher. If he was I would not want a bone idle dope like that on my team. Also the police were great in the end but it really did take a long time before they intervened.

They’re members of the British army, serving as an armed reconnaissance regiment. Some of them alternate between operational and ceremonial duties. Nobody is complaining that people are looking at them, but at disrespectful behaviour towards members of the military who are serving their country. Some ignorant people think they’re simply tourist attractions but they’ve been performing this ceremonial role since the 17th century.
