@Cepsic You could easily just put a tiny platform up in the sky on a small tile somewhere, and just regenerate the world. He didn't really build anything yet so it wouldnt be that hard, and some guy suggested that he should create a new world anyways because of the space station that disappeared.

I think I got a solution to space stations. the moons. they use the power of perspective so if everything up there is on that scale it would look large from far away. also you could weld them to the moons and it would function as the ground because they are part of the tile, so maybe some orange glass or invisible blocks could be used to connect them.

You could build a pillar of semi invisible blocks (so that you can still tell where you are placing things but difficult to see from afar) and weld the space station to it at the top. Also you couldn’t place it on the bomb pillar using the lift because it would go through the skybox

Don't have scrap mechanic myself, my computer won't handle it, but was wondering, if you can attach to the ground, can you attach to the skybox instead? Edit- got further in to the video and seeing that he can't weld to wall so probably not?

@@StegDsluG nu u cant weld it to the skybox, mainly cuz u cant place things on the sky box. and a lift only can be placed down faceing upwards. so he cant put a lift on the skybox

Okay so here’s the thing about stations. If the idea is to have a station that’s not functional and just used as window dressing for the skybox, then because of perspective, they really ought to be built much small than 1:1 scale. There’s no reason for a decorative station to be have a massive block count and be a huge drain on computer resources.

Maybe you could use sky anchors to lock the space stations to the grid, like they're on the ground, but in the sky. This would reduce performance hits, and increase stability for something like a modular base. And then you could maybe find a way to activate a zero g switcher using sensors when you enter the space station? Give it that spacey vibe? Idk, just some suggestions. Idk if a mod exists yet for sky anchors, or angel blocks as they're labeled in my head. But if it doesn't exist, you could possibly use tiles that are plain, but have something floating in the sky that you can build off of, similar to the two moon tiles. Anyways, I've been loving the videos!

Seeing as 0g seems to reduce pre-weld lag, I recommend low g before you weld an object to the base, and then switch it back to Mars g once it's welded and solid.

To reduce the lag of massive space stations you have to divide them in sections and connect those sections with other blocks. So for example the station is made out of plastic blocks, you divide it in half and connect those halves with wood.

If the game has different stats for different types of blocks that means it should calculate them differently, and that makes it possible to logically divide different types of blocks into smaller chunks so the game won't try to calculate a massive 4000 block piece, and instead it should calculate 100 + 20 + 100 + 20 (for example) switching between chunks of blocks. This is similar to disconnecting your rails every 60 blocks so they don't get laggy. That massive station didn't lag because the clever author decided to hold two halves with the pistons, unfortunately it reduced the lag but created a bug....

You can use the ( Fant Mod 8.57 ) to anchor things in the air without needing a pole to have them up there. 8.57 adds the anchor block but there is more recent updates incase it doesn't work with the game version or something.

I agree with some of the other commenters that you should reset the world given that there aren't many creations in it yet and that the space station could potentially have brought in some instability that you don't want to deal with for the rest of the series. Also, in the future, I recommend you use the moons to put objects in the sky. As I assume that they are objects you can attach things to and then detach. And will be more stable than using giant pillars.

im fairly sure the reason you coudnt place your lift was because the explosive tower was on the lift not welded, meaning you were trying to place the lift on the creation already on your lift, and the space station freaking out was probably because you left the thrusters turned on and it didnt finish the piston expanding thing before turning it on

scrapman, im certain, the creators of the space stations intended the stations to be welded static (or so you understand, welded to the ground) so it isnt a riggid body anymore, due to the lag. in which case all these stations seem very plausible and useable in your mars scenario. it seems ridiculous to me to have the stations as freefloating objects especialy with their sice anyways
