Some interesting facts about the top 2 drivers this season in F1, that should put expectations of Liam into perspective: 1. Max wasn't the #1 Red Bull Driver until his 4th full season in F1 2. Norris didn't have a single win until his 6th season in F1, in his first 2 seasons, he only had 1 podium! A realistic benchmark for a rookie doing a decent job in a decent car was Piastri's 2023 season, when he came 9th in the championship. That included 2 podium results. At the end of last season the Red Bull was behind all of Ferrari, MacLaren and Mercedes, as the 4th fastest car.

I think Lawson has the mindset to do better than Checo, he’s shown how quickly he can settle in to different cars, so next season won’t be a lot different. He came runner up in DTM ahead of team mate Alex Albon, just to be taken out by Kelvin Vanderlinde in a shockingly controversial crash which cost Liam the title. He came runner up to Ritomo Miyata in Super formula after blowing an overtake on Miyata at the start,for the lead. He’s very talented and versatile and clearly Red Bull knows what capability he has.

RB picked the right driver, they are building for the future. Liam has demonstrated greater potential than Yuki. He has far superior race craft, moving forward each race where as Yuki loss 1.7 places during the 2024 season. Liam has more confidence, he’s more adaptable and a faster learner. All important attributes when looking at the future. Yuki is a fast qualifier but that’s about it.

@@greig39 to be fair, Yuki finished the season well in low-grip races, where Liam seemed to have tyre wear problems but I’m glad RB went with Liam. Next season will be very interesting as will 2026.

Yeah, yuki to Aston Martin paired with lance makes a lot of sense. Lawrence is not spending that kind of money on the car to have two second rate drivers. Max and Alonso, now that would be the team, Honda power with a Newey designed car, that's a winning combo.
