I work at a nuclear plant lol. The water acts as shielding to keep the radiation levels low. The round pool is the above the pot or core where the fuel bundles go. The surrounding pool can be used for storage for new fuel or a holding area for spent fuel. The over head crane is probably the fuel handling machine for transferring fuel bundles. The red cylinder is your airlock for entering/exiting the reactor building

@@cl4589 yeah. I believe there's 2 cycles. Cooling and the actual steam production. It works by boiling water to create steam that goes about 30MPH threw the turbines spinning them spinning coils creating electricity. There's also the "spent fuel pool" that's where the spent fuel rods go. It takes 1000 years (century) for those fuel rods to be safe. Fun fact swimming in the reactor pool is safer then swimming in a normal pool because the radiation kills the bacteria. Just don't touch the actual rods.

I'm shocked you didn't hear about Fukushima as it's the only nuclear disaster to be ranked as worse as chernobyl and contaminated a whole province in Japan. It was after the powerful earthquake ever recorded in Japan, and the fourth most powerful earthquake in the world since modern record-keeping began in 1900 at 9.0- 9.1 magnitude. and one of the largest tsunami measured at over 40.5 meters (133 ft) and heading 10 km (6 mi) inland. And according to Wikipedia, 19,747 deaths, 6,242 injured, 2,556 people missing.

@@thekwoka4707 In terms of how much radiation was released Chernobyl was worse, yes, but as it was a reactor originally created to study radiation it was in a fairly isolated area, so most of the people who died were from the response team and a few workers who stuck around to keep the reactor from going too far out of control before a response team could get there. In terms of deaths, Fukushima is the worst event in human history, as unlike the isolated Chernobyl, the Fukushima event was in the middle of a fairly high population town.

I'm a small town fire fighter. The beeping you hear from the fire fighter npcs is called a PAS device. When the device can't recognize movement within 15 seconds it starts to go off which was the beeping. It was developed to help fire fighters find firemen who get trapped or injured during a call. Usually a simple shake of the airpack will silence the beep.

@3:21 The room you were in is the Decontamination chamber or decompression chamber. the use of this is when the reactor is in a off state @3:34 you are in the inner chamber of the reactor. this room is usually unaccusable or strongly warned or encouraged to stay out of during operation of a nuclear reactor without proper radiation equipment @3:41 the room looks like the cooling tanks. this is where spent uranium rods used in the nuclear reactor are placed to cool and be enclosed in special containment enclosures for further processing and or to spend the rest of their life or processed to be removed from the facility for storage @3:46 that pool you are looking at looks to be like the reenactment of the reactor pool (where the reactor is actually located) @3:52 That is the crane used to move spent rods from the reactor to the cooling pool mentioned @3:41 @4:57 the room you are in is the Reactor Containment Area @5:03 That is actually the internal working of the reactor. the spikes mentioned here are actually control rods. the control rods are used to mitigate uranium fission reaction (atom splitting) for which is a normal reaction of uranium to generate heat to which after generates steam for the turbines which would probably be in one of the other rooms that are empty. This area is usually off limits unless the reactor is being serviced due to the level of radiation in this area @5:18 that is the pooling area, I personally do not fully know what this is for, but would seem to be part of the outer housing of the reactor.

The sound you hear that sounded like a squeal is what fire fighters use to alert other fire fighters when they need help. If they stop moving from a pass out or entrapment it’ll go off
@PauwerFurry
@PauwerFurry 2 жыл бұрын
It’s called a Personal Alert Safety System, or PASS device. After 30 seconds with no motion, the PASS goes into its “pre-alert” stage, as a warning to the firefighter that the device is preparing to enter it’s “full-alarm” stage. As the pre-alarm stage progresses, the beeps get faster and louder, until the full-alarm is activated, producing a specific set of beeps and tones at 75dB.

Never been in a nuclear plant before, but from what I remember in high school: the rods you encountered are the nuclear material themselves, and that tube you were in is flooded with water that is then heated into steam which drives the turbine to generate electricity. The pool you found is where the rods not in use are stored as water cuts down on radiation, hence why on an overcast day you are receiving the lowest UVA compared to direct sunlight onto your roof (yeah, the water vapor cuts down UVA radiation, unlike your roof which does basically nothing). I think it has to do with the Hydrogen atoms in the molecule? As I recall, metallic Hydrogen (Hydrogen in its solid state is a metal, yes!) is mostly opaque and blocks ultraviolet and most waves of infrared (heat) light while allowing most visible (non-damaging) light through while causing a slight hue change in the light to a type of… Magenta, was it? Yup! Pink! It’s why sunset is deep pink, as the sun rays are exciting the Hydrogen over the horizontal diameter of the globe from beyond the horizon, rather than Oxygen which reacts blue from a direct vertical (day time). All very exciting stuff, and come think of it… I studied this before high school… in 5th grade (2001?) because I was bored and it caught my interest. >.< Anyway, it’s possible half of what I know at least is out of date by now, heh. And Drae: you’re in walking dead phase… even before you shot the nuclear rods point blank inside the reaction chamber… Chernobyl Drae.0! xD

Ah Fukushima daiichi (die ee-chee). Such an intimidating structure. Currently houses the highest recorded radiation reading at around 560 sv/H (sieverts per hour). A normal dosage standing in the sun is basically 0.01μsv/H (Micro sieverts per hour). The only way to record footage inside of the containment vessel is to attach a very long fiber optic lens. Because sending a robot or camera into the vessel would result in the immense amounts of gamma rays piercing through the electronics. Each ray is basically atomic in size, so imagine how many particles must be shooting through the electronics to fry them. Radiation is Incredibly scary, yet fascinating.

Though RoR is quite old at this point, almost 20 years old i believe. BeamNG is definitely one of the coolest games available IMO. i bought it when it was in very early alpha stage and paid $15 for it. It's amazing how well the physics are. I've been able to recreate real car crashes i've seen. Truly an awesome game to play and put time into. Water is used as a coolant but primarily a neutron moderator, heavy water is better suited to this taskbut light water will do. Fukushima was a swimming pool reactor or open pool reactor.

Drea, the "crane" in the power plant is used to add and remove fuel rods in the reactor pool. IF I remember correctly from science class IF a fuel rod is "closed" its sealed inside of a lead lined casing and "open" would be the fuel rod being removed from the casing so that the nutrons and protons can move around the cooling pool to generate heat to boil water for a steam turbine thus generating power. Other than that great vid.
