These 'mystery boxes' seem in general like gambling. My family breeds and trains race horses in Ireland. I never bet on a horse race. I don't know much about these pop things except that I want the German Shepherd ones. The price of these things is unstable. German Shepherd #2 is selling from USD $23.50 to USD $106 on Ebay. I'm waiting until it sells for USD $16.

I remember when WoW came out they had a thick guide book for sale and there was a cartoon picture of "the overconfident tank" having murlocs all over him and be like "it's cool guys I got this". It is literally action figures instead of stuffed animals, otherwise, same thing. Btw, action figures have no more of an innate value than stuffed animals, and stuffed animals have been around longer than action figures, and will always be around as well, and that doesn't magically make beanie babies more valuable. Funko Pop collectors are not going to be super rich, they are going to be super poor, because they are idiots and can't recognize obvious trends, even when someone points out an exact parallel like beanie babies. Don't get me wrong, there will always be idiots willing to pay large sums of money for the really "rare" items, but at the same time people pay thousands for the same exact beanie babies I have seen for $5. It is like anything else, you can list 10,000 books for $1000 apiece on ebay and every month there will be an idiot that buys one, even though the book is only worth 50 cents.
