That particular grab would be more suited to loading a mixer wagon with the over head plastic holding system

I was thinking of buying one but saw KZbin video of 5 foot shear grab which I have and it does the same job once bales have no net wrap. I do all pit bar 150 to 2oo bales.works great cause I don't have to change implements.

You should have tried the sonarol combi out on demo. That loader is well able for that cutter, it's the hydraulic pump that may not be. Bigger rams on the loader will sort it not turning back.

Class job. One thing to note. Valtras are famously nose heavy which makes them excellent for pulling but less ideal for loader work. But because they are so well built you can get away with it. Best of luck with it.

Hi Tom, we have one for seven years and if anything happened to it I’d replace it, works well on our class 420 it takes a bit of getting used to but works great, watch out for low doors…

We’ve one of the early keltec bale shears had it 11 years now. Gives very little bother. One thing that helps with plastic breaking on a flat bale off is lifting the bale with the knife edge and pushing it down to make it round again. Also when closing the grab put the foot to the floor until she grabs the plastic 😂

My method for using the shear, blade fully open obviously, i tilt the shear over the top of the bale positioning the top front of the shear on the ground practically, then close the blade between a third and half way through the bale. I lift and tilt the shear in all the way back towards the tractor before moving the blade again. This allows half of the bale to fall back in on top of the tines as you cut which supports it. When you drop the blade again the front half will fall out, blade most of the way down and tilt the shear away from the tractor to roll the second half out, this is important because often the silage is still cradled in plastic, doing it this way with the shear tilted back allows the silage to be supported on the tines so you can roll the second half out of the plastic that is underneath it, otherwise it tends to just tear half way up the bale and the silage stays on top of the plastic. Hope that helps

I had one found it a bit awkward for low sheds and very heavy with a bale hanging out the front of the TM and Q980, it's probably aimed for a loader/loadall but other lads seem to get on very well with them I went back to the grab. If you take out the two outside tines it will pierce the bales easier.

I'll have to look into altering the flow on my MX t10 on the valtra 6550 it won't crowd back two 800kg bales unless I lift them up and then use the parallel lift rams to assist it.

When your saying about the loader aslong as you don’t need to lift high that loader is prefectly fine for most jobs and it’s an old loader so it’s not flimsy like the newer ones

Tilt her back more when you're splitting the bale. And tilt her full then your releasing the plastic and it won't get caught in the blade. Brilliant job. Have 1 with a few year. Only job with diet feeder.

Agree, my bales are well chopped, remove plastic and netting in one minute flat, lift with double spike bale fork and bale is in bits with very little manual forking these machines over rated for feeding at barriers, still alot of work to do with them bales to get them all along front of barriers

@@theirishfarmer it's a 3 ton tackeuchi with a mechanical 3 into 4 grapple I have the bales near by and I squeez them between the blade and arm to move them around, won't be beaten for feeding out bales and tucking in! And also great for cleaning smaller sheds etc a brilliant tool if as you have the diggers

you waste more time sorting out the plastic and the net/plastic and the lump of silage caught in the grad do over 600 a year and have tried a few and always went back to the bale lifter with the rollers removed we use a 7mt handler and you can spread the bale along the feeding face no big lumps

That machine is bound to make feeding easier but I don't like it, it's over engineered if you ask me to big and awkward for under low canopies like yours, all the other brands I see are far more compact I've seen some of them worked on smaller tractors like the 900, I think you could of got a more compact machine for less money and done the same job

I have experience of valtras from the past and they are very durable and well capable of punching above there weight, those 900s were unbreakable, the clutch could be a bit soft when pulling huge loads but other than that they were unbelievable. And those valera engines even now have some torque.
