❤ this was an especially great video :) so cool :) i am happy to see that you learned a lesson last year about longer boards at pipe, and thus taking 2 of our 6'6" for that, and bigger waves in general :) proud of you :) the 6'4" and 6'2 looks cool also, as does the rounded pin tail :) you were ripping hard on some of those waves, and got some great barrels :)

Must have been amazing to watch, biggest waves I've surfed was at Boulders in Samoa at around 10 feet those look nuts!! Do you guys ever come over on the ferry to surf, portsea, gunna in vic?

Your off season surfing has been phenomenal in your vids. You are READY TO CONQUER the world tour!! So proud of you for changing up your coaches this year. This is not easy to switch things up. Adding Shane and Micro to the team was a very smart move. 💪 Roger Federer (retired pro tennis player) would change up his coaches every few years to improve his over all game, keep things fresh and also, to throw off his competors with new tennis strategy to win more matches. This method worked for him to stay on top his whole career. Good for you for changing up your coaching team by adding new coaches. Thanks for sharing your behind the scenes take on the Eddie. ALL the pros including, Shane Dorian were absolutely sending it in the 2023 Eddie contest. Another fantastic video & great job editing Tom. take care. 🏄‍♂

Good seats you had for the Eddie!! I sat up on those exact rocks behind that Waimea neighborhood for the 2016 Eddie. I camped atop the pill box at Kaena Point the night before and watched 50’ surf wrap the point when we woke up. My buddy Kepa Lyman has the last house out at Kaena and after we hiked down, we rode all his bicycles all the way to Waimea (because of gnarly traffic), locked them all up in that neighborhood you’re staying in and watched from the Eddie from the very same seats. This is the first Eddie I missed in last 20 years. Surf was perfect here on Big Island though, so I don’t feel too bad. BTW, that gal Candace, I think that’s what you said her name was, in the photo, does she surf? I think I had a class with her at UH Manoa back in the day, looks super familiar. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Depends which airline you fly with. I've got pretty high status with American so I don't get charged at all. When we go to Europe though I may get charged anywhere from 1k-2k. Yeah we've tried shipping but both times they've been delayed so not the best option pre contest haha
