California's shores are taking a pounding from dangerous waves. Powerful storms have churned up ocean water, resulting in waves as high as 40 feet. Those waves are causing chaos on land, damaging structures and bringing flooding to the area. Carter Evans has more.

As usual I am NOT shocked when I see or hear about how Californians do things. Example: They are told the beaches are closed because they are too dangerous? Then that will be the next place they will go. This 'big sand berm' will save your homes and businesses. Now that is a real joke. I guess they feel better when anything is done. It won't even take a rogue wave to level that 'berm'. That berm is going to be GONE within the week. Get a brain of any kind and stop thinking you are going to rise above the actions of Mother Nature. It is very hard for me to feel sorry for them.

I find it very hilarious how the wealthy and the rich build their homes right on the coastline and they scream global warming when they know that the ocean naturally erodes the beach and cliffs, I don't understand why you would build a home so close to the water and knowing that you have to factor in the risk of environmental damages because you cannot control how much the ocean takes away plus when you're building right on the edge of that area you're taking that loss no matter what. The only solution that I would think of would be is to reinforce the cliff sides and create a buffer zone for a few miles where you're not allowed to build on it since you have to naturally replenish the area because the more that you build and the more that you take away from the earth the less strength the area has to uphold all of that weight that is compounding on it.
