This is Quarter-Final 2 of the Dimensional Phase Outbreak, a tournament featuring 12 decks from the 11th main booster of the Digimon Card Game: Dimensional Phase. The next two decks that made it past the preliminaries are Mastemon and Galacticmon. Both are heavy control decks with their own unique characteristics. Which will outlast the other?

Both these decks are heavily control-based, and playtesting was pretty intense with a close to 50/50 win rate for this matchup. I would describe Galacticmon as being slightly more consistent (cos it has a single fixed combo that the deck's engine is designed to accelerate towards) while Mastemon has more potential power with the right combo pieces in different situations, balancing each side's advantage out. For this recorded match in particular, it was quite a shame that so many LadyDevi/Angewos got trapped in Security, putting Maste on the back foot at several key points of the game. If they had a BT11 Angewomon in hand for the 2nd Mastemon, I think there was a good chance they could have made a comeback and turned things around, but as yall saw - 2 got recovered into Security and until the very end of the game, I failed to draw into the 3rd.

It's impressive how much easier it is to play Mastemon with the new support in addition to blocker/retaliation being a nasty combination of effects. That being said, I knew it was over for Mastemon the moment the second Galacticmon hit the field, the deck has a lot of removal, but not enough for 2 of them. Also, I love the fact that every Galacticmon gets "more final" lmao.

Amazing match between two amazing decks. However, Mastemon's offensive capabilities were to able to overcome Galacticmon's final boss-esque defences; while Destromon & Galacticmon's removal effects on high-cost targets were able to gain enough advantage to snatch the win. I'm curious to see how it'll fare against BWGX; dodging Hades Force and being resilient enough to face its other removal, but the same it true for Greymon X's inheritable against Galacticmon. But I'm getting ahead of myself. The next match is between Bagra Army & Machinedramon. I'm definitely rooting for Bagramon because I want to see more of it; but its hard to decide their actual chances. Machinedramon is famously also a consistent & resilient opponent after all, not to mention just generally dynamic. But the army also has quite the arsenal of powerhouses at it's disposal; and if they're lucky, perhaps Bagramon himself will finally have a chance to shine.

Definitely. I also noticed that Maste's Retaliation Blockers can sometimes work against them in this matchup. With Snatchmon's inheritable, Galactic unsuspends when it returns its Vem sources to deckbottom. So a Retaliation Blocker can't stop Galactic's final attack (while a non-Retaliation Blocker could) cos it would give the Galactic an unsuspend

Unfortunate for Mastemon they couldn't get the blocker/retaliation combo back after losing it the first time. Really could have put a wrench in the works.

I have a question: At 5:20, Galacticmon trigger its Start of main phase ability, trashing one security. Kari Kamiya, a tamer revealed. Q1: Why doesn't it set in the tamer area, instead straight go to trash? Q2: Does it have to be a digimon attacking security only the security effect triggers? Q3: In what circumstances that the security of an option card or tamer does not activate?

A card's Security effect only activates if the card is 'checked', usually by being attacked. If a Security card is 'trashed' by an effect, it goes straight to Trash without activating any Security effects

Hmm... nothing really comes to mind. With Mastemons [All Turns] effect, playing a Lv.5 already allows you to delete a Lv.5 or lower. I dont think theres another Lv5 that comes close to Luce: Chaos when it comes to adding potential to this combo's removal. But as placeholders, I feel like BT1 MagnaAngemon and ST10 Angewomon do decent jobs? Current competitive builds play with BT4 NeoDevimon to deal with the Tamer-filled meta. If u wanna go a bit janky, BT2 Kimeramon could delete your Falldown Mode on the side to erase an additional Lv5 or less, while procuring back a Gatomon which can immediately evolve into Angewomon for a consecutive Maste play

I love both decks, it's a shame that Maste was defeated, but this could be a certain potential for big brain plays like Galacticmon. Also I'd like to ask, is the Mirei deck that you use good for competitive play?

Not quite, a competitive recipe would use Lv3s like Psychemon and Gazimon to shutdown the opponent, as well as tech in Dexmon Some other tech ive seen in BT11 competitive builds: MagnaAngemon, Angewomon X, NeoDevimon, adding 1 or more Blocker Devimon

The mastemon deck is strong at healing but she lack of blockers. On the opponent's site, Galacticmon is strong of life licking but he is not strong at attacking. I think this match needs a rematch to make sure who is truely stronger

What a shocker, Mastemon and Mirei had fallen victim to the Forgotten Enemy, meaning Yuuya, Analogman and Yu are the only Tamers left in this tournament. Quarter 3: The Machine of Infinite Destruction, Machinedramon W/Analogman vs The Leader of the Army and Boss of the 3 Officers, Bargramon W/Yu. The final match of the Quarter Finals are her, and it's Bargra Army against the Dark Master of Heavy Metal. let the chaos commence.

Dang. I just realize i've been cheating. Mastemons delete 1 level 6 and every level 5 or lower are 1 effect. I thought they were two. So i've been gaining less recovery but dodged a bunch of decoys
