I just purchased my second barrel today and yes it was dry and vary wobbly. By the time I got home it was all a pile of wood. Tomorrow's project is going to be figuring out how to get it back as it was. You sure did make it look easy

I cannot thank you enough as I purchased two whiskey barrels to use as bases for cocktail tables around two of my pergola posts. As I was driving home I heard a tremendous noise and looked in the rear and saw one of the barrels collapsed. About half the stays were still intact so those were numbered. I had to glue the top and bottom slats together as they totally came apart. Not enough rings in the barrel to hold it. Had to use several clamps to hold the stays until they were all inserted. Could not have done it without seeing your video!! Thank you!!!!

I had to do this today, as somebody bought a barrel and it was wider than the doors.. Never touched one before but got it back together and holding water. This guy would have done two dozen to my one and with less leaks! I should have watched this first, but who doesn't love a puzzle?

Been watching so many videos trying to learn how to reinsert that outer ring at the lip. Every time I hammer it in one spot it comes out another, I tried holding it down with a second hammer but it can't hold it down. The barrel was already bloated because it had brandy in it and I was trying to fix it right after taking the brandy out. I noticed at that point half of the ring was sticking out. Should I wait a bit until it dries up and the wood shrinks a bit so I can fit the ring back in? As a side note, I might have distorted that perfect concave shape of the ring from hammering it so much.

Just bought 21 of them and about half need to be done like this, good video but they look alot better condition than mine 😭 going to be fun, any tips let me no I'll be back to look at this video a few times 😅😅

How do you sand inside of a whiskey barrel

It depends what you are trying to achieve. Unless you you have any experience reassembling barrel, it may be wise to keep it together, get your best sanding paper and lots of elbow grease.
