purehito is how japanese do the pronunciation, but english speaker fonetics is different so they said weird, but even from my country that is not english speaker can pronounce purehito similar to japanese just by reading

Well.... Japanese doesn't have dipthongs (two vowel sounds), digraphs (two consonent sounds) and trigraphs (three letter sounds) phonetically. With sounds like those, they say them as if they have multiple syllabes.

you pronounce exactly like that pu-re-hi-to, pronounce similar to what latin language sounds, they always add a vogal aftr a consonent, just like latin based, spanish/portuguese usually form a word by sequencing consonent/vogal/consonent/vogal/consonent/vogal

Mavis and Purehito was how it was originally when it came out, I don’t ever remember precht being called back then and I was very active on the fanbase back then on social media, no manga reference or cosplay reference ever mentioned that ( back in the day Fairytail battle/ sort of fanfic like character play was huge in the group chats so there was always someone playing all the characters sort of like recreating Fairytail and it’s like being in a guild for real) maybe it’s for some countries but even in the English dub they call him purehito, but the English dub i watched was aired on an Asian based channel that did have Japanese headquarters, so there’s slight differences in western airs I’ve heard like some changes that didn’t exist for us, and the channel I watched had English subs aired most of the time but once in a while English dub also aired at the same time at a different time of the day for some animes esp popular ones since our broadcast main station was outside Japan, so Fairytail had both versions aired it was mostly English dub in the beginning and sat/Sundays we had the Japanese dub until this arc ended and 2014 Fairytail was mainly Japanese dub. I was a huge fan I was obsessed so I was in multiple Fairytail fan spaces so people from all over the world was in these international group chats, I miss those days of all anime spaces Fairytail was honestly the best even people who didn’t watch Fairytail loved being in our “guild” group chats which makes me even more attached to Fairytail, cause it really was recreating Fairytail cause I met some of my most long term best friends that way and showed me a place to belong, some of the local group chats even hung out in real life (we were teens back then not the safest thing but we were safe even though we met online, and since I’m from a small country it’s fortunate that we can actually check and confirm which schools and friends they have if we are around the same age, since someone’s always connected or went to the same school, so they coincidentally did have mutuals we knew in real life, if I was from another country it might have been dangerous, I still have contact with the international friends who were in the guild) one of my international friends grew up got married and decided to have his honeymoon in my country and asked to meet up for the first time even though we met like on an anime gc as kids cosplaying Fairytail characters, there’s no other anime fan space as amazing as Fairytail infact Fairytail spaces were the most popular because of this, people even would bring their other favourite anime characters into the Fairytail group chats despite the rivalry that went on with the top 3, because no other fan space was that organised and other fandom spaces didn’t function the same way I’ve been into some of my other favourite anime spaces and I just left- it wasn’t the same, but the saddest part is fandom spaces in general don’t exist like back then anymore a lot of them died and fandom culture has changed so it’s a bit sad to think back that memories that made me love anime even more would not exist for the current generations esp with how different internet is now ( and I’m just in my early 20s and this was only just pre- 2017/2018 and 2012-2015 was the best era a lot of fun spaces that were more public pages disappeared around 2015 and that type of social engagements just doesn’t happen afterwards, me and some of my friends did try to remake those spaces again but it didn’t work out and when I see fandom spaces now it’s just sad how the way we were active isn’t the same anymore and newer fans also won’t get to have that ) anyways I’m just ranting on nostalgia now and all the reasons more Fairytail would always be my favourite
