Some of your looks here remind me of my favorite outfit from my college years in the early 80s: straight, dark-wash jeans (501s, always and forever), a navy on white Mariniere and my burgundy wool bomber jacket. I wore comfortable beige suede mules most days, they had lowish heels, and this was right before sneakers became popular for everyday wear. I carried a backpack instead of a handbag, to carry books, notebook, etc., of course. I could wear this outfit today, easily. I wore out most of these things, naturally, but I wish I had kept the jacket, it’s so hard to find that quality nowadays. I remember that Mariniere so well, it was incredible quality, I bought if from Marimekko in Fisherman’s Wharf here in San Francisco. Too young to know any better, I washed it every time I wore it, but still it lasted and lasted.

What I don't like about a lot of these brands are the very oversize pieces with dropped shoulders. I prefer to wear the right size for me and with the seam to sit on the shoulder, not half way down my upper arm, which looks more sloppy and casual and less elegant

I completely agree with your perspective on the oversized pieces-it’s all about finding the right fit for an elegant look! I actually feel the same way about Saint Laurent’s latest SS25 collection. While I love their tailored designs, I keep asking myself how to wear them in real life because they feel so impractical and uncomfortable. Me, too, I hate those huge oversized and too-long clothes and dropped shoulders. I have a small, narrow frame and features and am petite height, I just look like a drowned kitten in those. Relaxed fit - ok, maybe, oversized - no. Unfortunately, brands either don’t know the difference, or they try to get everyone, those who want fitted or those who want oversized, to buy by calling their items “relaxed fit” when the item is really quite huge. I’ve never seen dropped shoulders flatter anyone, they’re stupid, I think. Totally agree with you, friend🙂

For anyone with wide feet like me, Adidas Handball Spezial are wider and more comfortable than the very similar Gazelle or Campus, I was advised by a very nice Adidas salesperson and it's definitely true, the Spezial are like walking on a cloud, I bought them in suede, my first trainers/sneakers for decades!

If I could buy anything I wanted, it would be the silk-lined, suede trousers from Gorsuch. Choosing just one color might be a problem, though, I want them all. In my opinion, all linings should be made of silk and all leather or suede should be the real thing, not plastic. I do have an almost all natural natural-fiber wardrobe, except for some of those pleated polyester skirts which I love except for the hideous plastic fabric. I’ve only found one all-silk style, from Lily Silk (black on cream dots or the reverse, I got both). Brands claim they can only make permanent pleats on synthetic fibers, I don’t know if it’s true, but I love the style too much to give them up. I wear them over a silk petticoat in cold weather, which helps. Those knife-pleated ones are past their style peak now, so it might be easier to give them up now than a few years ago. Wider pleats are more trendy now, I love those, too.

More natural-fiber brands, please, I’ll check out Icicle! Not only am I allergic to plastics (synthetic fibers), I overheat in even blends with 10% synthetic fibers in them. I’ve finally learned: no it is not “maybe going to be ok this time”, no matter how much I love the way an item looks, I just can’t wear it if has synthetics in it. Spandex, which I loathe, included.

If money was no object I'd ask Prada to recreate one of their custom-made coats that Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy wore, the fitted camel one with patch pockets. Bring back elegant, elongated fitted coats! (I have mine from 2005, still timeless). I am petite and oversize clothes/coats would simply swamp me.
