Hello sir. I was calculating something and I am little confused to believe what I calculated. So to study in Europe college where fees could be 40000€ for two years. Plus living expenses would be 900€(avg) x12 x 2= 22000€ Total = 62000€. With no banks providing loans without collateral, one would go to NBFC, which would provide loan at 14-15 %. Now the amount would be 62000€ x 14% = 9000€ per year. So in 3-4 years the loan amount would get to 90000€ or even 1lakh €. Starting salaries offered in Europe ( going by least) is 2500€ per month = 30000€ per year . But 30% tax rates would reduce to 20000€ per year. But also the still living expenses would amount to 14000€ per year. Leaving the net amount saved is 5-6000€per year. How would on this amount would a student could pay back loan of 90000€ in his/her lifetime??

Arif - First of all thanks for this amazing! Very brave of you! Secondly - Between HEC Paris's MIM and Masters in Strategic Management - which one adds more value for someone looking to get into MBB?
@iArifAhmad4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Ashab for your kind words. Let me share my 2 cents, Don't select your course based on what company you want to work for. Rather, try to figure out the domain and the industry. You might find a similar role in companies other than MBB where you find yourself more fitting. Also HEC Paris MiM and MSc in Strategic Management are quite different in their curriculum. For SM, it's quite a fast paced program of 10 months where if you get slightly confused about your path you won't have much time to bounce back and you'll soon be graduated. With MiM you can pretty much experiment in your gap year, do internships in different domains and figure out with real time experience what you want to do and then come back and specialize in that field in your M2 year

Your Linkedin Shows that you are still studying at ESSEC since 2020 while u have done few internship. its a 3 yrs master for you !!! I feel no one talks about the real things in this kind of videos. MiM program is a highly marketed program in which u don't learn much unlike the MBA. As a result, u don't find good jobs as well, especially in countries which has visa problem n language barrier. I have seen lot of people who struggle for a few months in Europe and finally return to India where they are treated as tier-2 MBA. like it or not in India IIT/IIM rules. On top u have a heavy loan to replay that will take years and meanwhile, you have additional pressure to settle in your life. Altogether life makes a U-turn !!! there is a simple way out - if you can't make it to the top institute in India study abroad only when it is free or on full tuition scholarship. I did my master's in Luxembourg ( 365 ranked in QS not a top one ranked University) for 200 EURO per semester and did part-time to pay my living cost, It cost me only Rs 70,000 for my master's and i have found a job in Amazon luxembourg where i work with HEC/ESSEC/INSEAD guys !!! i also wouldn mind working in India had i not found this role as it wont hurt my pocket much !!! So the moral of the story is to navigate international water very carefully and spend as little as possible. Leave rest to god ! god bless all kids who want to study abroad.
@pratyushadas559 ай бұрын
Different individuals have diverse ambitions, and not everyone aims to study in Indian universities, even if they are considered top-tier institutions. Many Indian universities rely on rote learning methods, though exceptions like IIMA and ISB exist with their case study-centric teaching style for MBA programs. It's worth noting that several business schools outside India rank higher and offer better returns on investment. In the Indian education system, only a small fraction, about 1%, of CAT aspirants out of thousands secure a spot in IIMs. However, this doesn't imply that only those who make it are the most deserving. CAT serves as an elimination test, and the concept of Indian MBAs can seem flawed since it's often pursued by freshers, contrary to its mid-career focus. MBA, MIM, and business schools, in general, are heavily marketed, attracting students for their brand names and networks beneficial for competitive fields like IB, Consulting, VC, PE, etc. If individuals possess the means and confidence to pursue their goals, they should go for it. Ultimately, success relies on individual effort and skills. While Ivy League degrees may open doors, there are instances of Ivy League graduates struggling to secure jobs, whereas others hold top management positions. Additionally, India recognizes degrees from highly ranked schools like LBS, UCL, and individuals who have worked abroad and returned to India have successful careers. Let's refrain from demotivating individuals based on limited knowledge. Success is subjective and depends on various factors beyond institutional labels.
@pratyushadas559 ай бұрын
Also it’s worth noting that if someone from a sub par university abroad can land a job in Amazon then a person from a high ranking bschool will bag better opportunities!!
@Msygt20249 ай бұрын
No it's not like that because graduates from Grand Ecoles get a very good job. The reason is There is no requirement of experience for min. @iArifAhmad4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Anukriti for your suggestion. I'll surely keep that in my list. Just as a small suggestion for it though, if I may, look at it all through the lens: 'this too shall pass' If a deadline is 2 months from now and you put in 1 hr towards it everyday you prepare for 60 hrs and if you put in 2 hrs a day, you have 120 hrs towards it. In the short run, 1 hr -> 2 hr won't be too taxing but in the long run, it'll be so much more. In both cases, the deadline will come. So, the choice is yours 🙂
