I did exactly what you mentioned with the late apex hairpin at Ledenon in the FF1600 a couple weeks back. Heading into turn 6, the left nearly hairpin turn, I went in real deep and made a hard late apex coming out. Got enough speed to get along side in turn 7, the left hand bend into the downhill. Finishing the pass on the inside going into turn 8 right hander at the bottom of the hill. Race video is on my channel if interested.
