I've always ran Excadril in the front with Yveltal and Melmetal in the back. Had some good success in the 2500s.
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! I would imagine that Excadrill pairs better with Melmetal in the back, seeing as they're both weak to Groudon and Yveltal is kind of a wall (unless running Dragon Tail). Totally depends on what you're seeing in the meta though. If there is a lot of Dialga leads, the ABA line makes sense.

Great video, sadly I'm struggling on my alt and still can't use any of these teams, haha. But in my main I just went positive gaining +200 points (brought me back to Veteran) using Ho-Oh, Dialga and Giratina-O. This team got me to Legend in the first half of the last season.
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
Awesome bro! I just hit Veteran as well with a 5-0 using Reshiram. Haven't been playing much this season, still around 250 battles total, but I'll probably do more now just because Reshiram demands it. Ho-Oh is still one of the Pokemon I would really like to get my hands on. My best is a 96% with 13 ATK, not worth building really.
@JovSMX2 жыл бұрын
@@oxfordu Maybe I should use my perfect Reshiram. 👀 Yeah, I already got a Lv. 41 Dialga and a Giratina-O but not a good Ho-Oh, instead I've opted for Mewtwo (Psystrike/Ice Beam). I was so close to Veteran but went 1-9 in the last sets, haha. I'm still debating if I should use a 14 ATK Zacian too.

Hi, I'm wondering in ur opinion should u use buddy boost on your team on the pokemon u expect to run into the most, like do u want buddy boost mainly for the mirror advantage?
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
I think it would depend on if there is any break points. Dialga is definitely one where you NEED the boost, huge disadvantage without it. Some other Pokemon don't benefit as much from it in general, so having it for the mirror is a good idea. Depends on how often you're running into that mirror though.
@mek424342 жыл бұрын
@@oxfordu guessing it's one of the most common mirrors my choices would be that giratina, mewtwo, and lugia so I'd say dialga it is lol
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
@@mek42434 In order I'd probably go Dialga, Giratina, Mewtwo, Lugia. This is off the top of my head, but I believe as far as break points go, those are the most important ones. Dialga definitely #1, the rest I could be wrong.

@mel_from_hell2 жыл бұрын
I am surprised mamoswine, mewtwo, lugia has A coverage everywhere. Metagross is very punishing for this team. In addition, team 3 is pretty weak to Kyogre (yes all teams have weaknesses) but I do not see the point of a 3 mons anti-Dialga, 2 could be enough in my opinion. However, thank you for all the effort you have put to showcase your ideas
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I believe most of these simulations are actually based on all of these Pokemon in the 1 shield scenarios, and I did forget to mention it in the video, but it is highly recommended to run Shadow Ball on Mewtwo for this team. I completely forgot about it when recording. Team 3 is a team that I have used to a lot of success, deep into the 3000+ ELO range in past seasons. While the team is very weak to Kyogre, I was able to usually get around it, especially if in the lead where Melmetal could actually win in some scenarios or by landing damage on Kyogre and then trying to catch Surf on Togekiss. I think this team could benefit even more today by replacing one of these Pokemon with Zacian now, which wasn't available when this team was at its peak in popularity. Dialga isn't as popular or dominant as it once was these days, in large part due to the rise of Zacian, but it is still a dominant force and can be found in the majority of teams.

@@oxfordu would you run mud shot or dragon tail on Groudon in that team? For example, Melmetal lead + Groudon and Dragonite in the back
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
@@pivotbroz I would actually lead with Dragonite I think, Groudon + Melmetal in the back. I would run Mud Shot on Groudon in this case for better coverage against Zacian, since that is one of the biggest threats to this team. I think Groudon with Dragon Tail would work as a good safe-switch, but it would require a different type of team build around it.

Should I build pokemon even if I do not have 100 iv or should I look for their 100 iv alternatives
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
If you are looking to use them in PvP, 100% IV is ideal but not always necessary. When possible, you will always want at least 15 ATK, mostly for CMP in mirrors or reaching ATK breakpoints, but there are also situations where a break or bulk point is met at a lower IV stat, and 13 or 14 might be enough to satisfy that. Having 15 in every category of course would be ideal but sometimes you can get away with less. Dialga is an example where it is NOT worth building unless you have 15 in ATK, as it reaches a very important break point for Dragon Breath damage, especially in the mirror.

@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
@@Nawisw111111 Dragonite is good for Zacian + Excadrill because it provides the Giratina Origin coverage. Both Zacian & Excadrill beat Dialga already so the team can work in an ABB style. Didn't know Groudon is in Master Classic this season (Last season it wasn't). Totally fucked by it as I don't have a Master level water type pokemon and Groudon can throw a fire punch every 2 seconds so my ice type also have no answer. Went 1-9 on my first Master League Classic day this season (the only win was a lag one), had enough and switch to Holiday Cup. Last season in Master Classic I could still keep a 50% winning ratio. Now, forget it.
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
Groudon is in the Master League Classic but it is not in the Master League Premier Classic where it is banned. That will be in the second part of the season. Groudon is a huge problem for sure if you don't have a strong answer. Some of the more accessible hard counters to it would be something like Dragonite or Togekiss. If you have them available, you could also use Lugia, Ho-Oh, even Mewtwo has pretty good play with shields. I'd definitely recommend doing Holiday Cup though if you feel more comfortable in that league.

@@oxfordu Togekiss is too slow and can't farm most dragons down before they get to 2 moves, meaning you are down 1 shield with 0 energy or 2 shields with energy and bad charge moves. Groundon seems lackluster against anything that isn't steel type and is sooo bait dependant :(
@oxfordu2 жыл бұрын
@@Drengen10 Yeah Togekiss is quite slow, but Charm does a lot. I think that's why Togekiss is almost never used as a safe-switch. It's often used in the lead or as a closer, where ideally it is left with a shield advantage or even shields and can sweep most Pokemon. Groudon doesn't suffer too much from baiting because it does have Mud Shot, so in comparison it does generate energy relatively quick. I really like Groudon in this meta, both with Mud Shot or Dragon Tail. More flexibility as a safe-switch with Dragon Tail I feel though.
