The new cult classic, combining fantasy RPG with deeply-woven, challenging 4X strategy, is jointly developed by Slitherine, the renowned strategy and wargame publisher, and Polish studio MuHa Games. They have taken all the successful ingredients of the legendary 1994 original and updated the game staying faithful to the genre-defining experience and in-depth content.
In the new Master of Magic players take up the role of one of 14 unique and diverse grand wizards who, locked in vicious competition, aim to dominate the magical worlds of Arcanus and Myrror.
Recruit and lead mighty armies of elves, dragons, dwarves, and orcs and support them in tense tactical turn-based battles with a wizard’s arsenal of powerful magic spells. Choose your school of magic, perform rituals, and excel in the dark arts. Victory goes to those wizards who use their expanding power to dominate the lands and ultimately rule the world. In the end, there can only be one Master of Magic.

A melee attack action uses half of your movement points, so if you don't move, you have two potential attacks. The ghouls rolled really well. The undead and poison effects are inherent in their melee attacks. I believe the lack of reward from the temple is another UI bug (well, maybe confusing design oversight). You don't have any spells that cost 3 mana, so I expect the familiar cast, for example, an 18 mana spell, then the temple gave you 15 mana (and nothing else), for a net -3.

Ooo, thank you for explaining this about the temple reward! That makes sense! I tell you what--I need to do those and use no mana, then if spellcasting can outpace the rewards so heavily. Is there a way to make the die rolls visible in the log? I like seeing all the numbers sometimes to get a real grasp of what happened ;) Thanks for explaining two attacks in a turn--that's great (except for the whole, they retaliate each time thing haha)

Hey thanks for replying my latest comment which felt nice for me. Lemme add some more.. I actually think that you are a little bit savescumming here. I see and feel your losses (those gouls are some bullies, aight? :D) but reloading was not really necessary in the overall gamestate. You can just rebuild. Of course it's your gameplay, which actually I already enjoy watching. Cheers

Haha, yeah--everyone has their own appetite for loading saves ;) I generally avoid it, but when I feel blindsided by something like a game mechanic, I sometimes reload ;)

Holy Weapon would have been better against the Ghouls You can see enemy forces at sites you've "scouted", you undid the exploration with the re-load, so you still have the tower of light indicating you haven;t been there yet and don;t know what is there

Oh, thanks for the tip on Holy Weapon--good point! I forgot that I lost the scout on the reload--thanks for reminding me ;)

Well the ghouls.. brace yourself a little now! you read their tooltips, you just have to process it i guess. It, honestly, clearly says that they feast on your dead to revive their own. Hence the 0 damage. It's not unheard of for the undead anyways. It's how I humbly interpret this swordsmen mass exodus tragedy. Cheers

I think goals have weapon immunity. Unless you are attacking with a magic weapon you will always do 0 damage to them.

Your rival's personality does not bode well for you. Do note that your Magic Spirit can float, allowing it to move across water tiles. This makes it exceptional at scouting in the early game.

It's been too long since I've played MoM (25 years?) that I cannot offer any valuable tips, but I will say it was a bit odd that that you got nothing from that temple after the battle, and it just kind of disappeared. I don't remember that being a thing in the original, but I could be wrong. Either way, it's kind of neat trying to relearn the game along with you.

Magic Spirits aren't intended to be combat units, they are very weak. They are primarily for controlling magic nodes but also make good scouts because they fly.
