Notice how this show never forgets the trait of the water tribe that Iroh decribed to Zuko. Katara was the first one to console Sokka, and we know that Sokka will always be there for his sister.

That was such a stupid decision from the show excs because it robs Sokka of his character development as a boy to a mature man. I don’t get why they try to make him woke from the jump

@@riotinvictus My best guess is because in the show, it's (in my opinion) kinda wobbly: 1. Water Tribe culture isn't explored much. We spend only 5 of the 20 episodes of ATLA's first season actually Water Tribe communities (not territory), and there's no explanation for why they're the only sexist culture (as far as I know; Toph, Azula and co. never got flack as women). Then again, the remake didn't fix that, either. I always thought it'd be a nice flip if they were sexist towards men because of Kuruk's "failure" and deemed men lacking spiritually to bend. 2. Since we're not in the WTs much, a lot of Sokka's sexism ties into him being a leader, so just focusing on the leader aspect and his inferiority works. A video I saw compared Zuko and Azula to Sokka and Katara: the dutiful daughter with mommy issues and the son chasing after his dad's attention.(Side note: kinda hate how the remake didn't revise fans as unisex, given that they are in East Asian cultures.) Or maybe they knew how crammed everything was gonna be as-is and didn't have the confidence to portray it correctly (unlikely, but still an interesting thought).

I love seeing Iron getting bullied in prison and training, still don't know how he get rid of that belly so fast(that's impossible) but whatever. And I hate Iron glazers who just can't take the treatment that he got, it was his choice to protect Aangs group and get caught and it was his choice to be with Zuko and get betrayed ))
