I was obsessed with kung-Fu theater and Bruce-Lee as a kid. Flying Guillotine was one of my favorites movies, I remember trying to make the flying guillotine with a Rubbermaid bowl that my mom had in her kitchen. It came out pretty cool minus the blades but I did have it on a rope and was able to throw it - I had a great time with it along with the Nunchucks (Chuka sticks) that I also made. The only thing I couldn't master was jumping from the ground on top of a roof, but you better believe that I tried. Imagination was the best weapon I ever had.

Great film from my childhood and it would come on TV every other year or so. Looking back now, that heavy industrial guitar intro every time the MOTFG makes his entry is awesome. It's like a White Zombie riff. Although it was cruel, the way the one-arm boxer got rid of the Thai boxer was genius.
@sonofcrystalpepsi14267 ай бұрын
For context, the crunchy guitar is taken from a song by the German group Neu!, called "Super 16". It's a slowed-down version of the song "Super", also in this film (it's the punk-rock-esque bit played over the opening credits).

Supposedly the intro song is one they pirated from the band that performed it, gave them no credit or royalties. Then they took the song, slowed it WAY down, and that is the theme song for the Master of the Flying Guillotine. This is the first version where I saw the non-English dubbed parts with subtitles for the Chinese still left in. I always wondered what "Holla, Holla!" translated into. Also interesting is the Master appears to be wearing a swastika. A lot of people don't realize is that this is an ancient symbol for Buddhism.
@mixmastercj1002 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your great comment. Yep! You’re correct. The song is “Super 16” by Neu! - a German “klautrock” band from the early to mid-1970s. It was a slowed down version of the original: the one which you hear in the credit sequence. There’s a sped up version as well, “Super 78.” The music is pretty ahead of its time; sounds straight out of a video game, or a Nine Inch Nails demo tape. As for the subtitles, yeah that was one thing that annoyed me when I first saw the film a couple years ago, and I had to buy the DVD to get them, so I figured I’d put the film out there w/ subs for peeps to see. And yes LOL, that part always amused me too. If I remember correctly, what she’s saying is “Hao le, hao le” - I speak a bit of Mandarin - which generally means “okay” or “alright.” Really hope this gets a blu ray release soon. In the meantime though, glad you enjoyed my upload. :)

I wonder if the Shaw brothers got upset about this. This surpasses the flying guillotine

Not sure. The original Flying Guillotine is an INCREDIBLE movie. I would say MOTFG and the two Shaw Bros are great in two completely different ways.

@@mixmastercj100 great movie and ku feng plays a wonderful role in it. I read somewhere that wang yu had a lawsuit against him from the shaw bros, i think its over this movie

@@demonikexorcist interesting. I would not be surprised. Run Run Shaw did seem to run things in a pretty "Iron Fist" sort of way. I've heard that if there was any cut of a film that he didn't like, he would burn the reel right in front of the director and make them do it over again. Mona Fong was way, WAY worse though.
