Mercedes has been a great mentor in keeping orchids on a budget. I’m always mesmerized to see how she spends so little and has so much. Most of her orchids are from divisions or store bought. She tells me that spending allot on orchids is a choice, not a necessity. You can get amazing results with little to spend. 😎

Nelson it is so wonderful to see the way others grow their orchids. I am in love with the sun orchids and I have more sun in my yard than shade. So I am borrowing her ideas for growing in pots as well as her handmade grids that are hanging under her canopy. This is why I love watching you because you not only show us the orchids but also the way they are growing them. I am on my way to the dollar store for the white baskets!

I'm a Home depot/ Lowes orchid collector too I even know when the orchid truck is delivering for my area its Thursday. I have 20 orchids now and all from Home depot or Lowes. They are all bag babies I like to watch them grow I hope they will bloom for me. I got back in to orchids when one of your videos popped up in my feed in March. I had some a few years ago but one of my goats jumped the fence and ate all my orchids I had about 20 at the time too. On the up side orchids aren't the least bit poisonous to goats so she was fine. She went back to her owner we just had her for a year for the show season so no more fence jumping goat to eat my orchids.

Thank you Nelson and Mercedes for an amazing tour and inspiration. Please have another episode with Mercedes showing us how she waters and fertilzes all these gems. Does she use a hose or a big bottle with pump to do mass watering/fertilizing? I cannot imagine how many hours it would take Mercedes to provide her TLC to each of her babies individually. Also, do her orchids in pots get any slugs at the bottom of the pots?
