*Okay well maybe not a master Sharpener but I have definitely sharpened my fair share of knives, and do sharpen knives for a living. So maybe Professional is a better description. I was challenged to sharpen a dollar store knife with a dollar store stone and here are the results.

Definitely impressive that you were able to get it sharp enough to shave with such inferior materials and equipment. Well done! I think this feat levels you up from "professional" to "master" sharpener!

You don’t need to be a professional to sharpen a knife nor do you need expensive tools. The only difference between a professional and an average joe is consistency and the tools just give you a slight push.

Their knives and stone work perfectly fine for me. None of our ancestors had fancy tools and they got by fine. My grandmother has been using the same budget knives for decades. All you have to do is sharpen. She uses the sharpener on the back of her electric can opener.

I learned to sharpen at age 8 on a carborundum stone similar to this. Mainly used the smooth side with a couple licks on an old leather strop and it would shave. As far as the knife, probably will take an edge but not keep it long if it's chinese steel. Though my kitchen cutlery I hit it everytime with a crock stick and it slices through about anything. Cool video though.

Hey I have a question for you. I have the real sharp electric sharpener that came with 3 clamps a 20, 25 and 30. I was wondering how you got a 15degree clamp? Is that something you ordered from the company or did you convert a clamp to that angle. Thank you

I don't remember, I know I have changed most all of my clamps :)

15 degrees each side is 30

You sharpen away from the edge, most sharpen as if cutting, into the edge. Just wondering your logic and if you do/don't get a bur.

Yep, I get a burr and the logic to me is by sharpening the way I do it is more forgiving on the edge, how would you sharpen a pencil? Would you start at the point and try to split it or start at the back of the pencil and work out toward the edge. This is what I have found to work best for me, I know others who like to do the opposite and that is fine with me if they get the same results. :)
