We are not free when we have chosen but only when we have chosen well. Our wills are orientated towards the good, and in fact we cannot will evil qua evil, so we are only really free when we clearly and unequivocally see the good, and because it is good we inevitably do it. If one were to 'see' God clearly we could not help but be drawn to him precisely because he is the good itself.
