For a bit Overview: 0:56 - Szenario #1 (you + drummer) 3:58 - Szenario #2 (you + drummer + other harmonic instrument) 7:00 - Szenario #3 (full band) 9:40 - Good extra Tips! I recommend not to skip straightly to the third szenario, since they are built on each other. Have fun!

I once was in a band and asked this. The drummer literally said. Its after the introduction and then did Slipknot on speed. I'd never heard the song before, so I had no idea what the introduction was or anything else. I didn't stay long with the band. LOL

I have pretty good rhythm. So, I like to play a funky bass line when jamming. It might not have a lot of notes. I've had folks compliment me on how much better I was than other bassists who just played 4 to the bar root notes. The fact was I wasn't playing much beyond the root, but doing something more than 1, 2, 3, 4 made all the difference

A good start is learning your major and minor scales. That way, you can at least figure out where you are buy going through the scale. Also, study charts for the notes on the neck.
