headsup regarding that, the fire rate seems to also depend on what you are hitting. hitting a bile titan lets u fire way more rapidly (as u see by the lines starting closer to the dot) than when firing small bugs

Question about that, do those quicker half charged shots actually do less dmg or do they have the same damage as the first fully charged shot? I’ve seen people insinuate that doing that does less damage and to kill bigger targets you want to spam fully charged shots, but idk if that’s true.

@@agedgouda8809 i would say if you're killing heavy enemies try to do full charged. From my experience, it does a little more damage. You'll barely notice it in the middle of a chaotic battlefield.

Arc thrower is S tier against bugs. Bots not so much but the ability take out tanks, mobs, middle tier enemies, shielded enemies with it on bug maps is insane. It truly allows you to solo content at high level with ease.

I think it do be far to call it S tier but it seems to do good against anything under charger and Bile titan. The thing for me is that I just run cluster bomb stratagem and anything weaker than those aforementioned bug types are dead anyways. Unchecked chargers and Bile Titans can truly mess up a game, and it might require you if you take the Arc rifle to take Railcannon and 500kg stratagem or rely on your teamates in a way to heavy lift those particular types of bugs. Friendly fire potential is definitely a disadvantage by forcing you to not shoot/killing potentially teamates or forcing you or them to reposition. Its definitely a trade of burst damage for more sustained/constant damage output. With my limited runs with it, it seems to be bad at dealing when a threat is on you at very close range. Which might get you killed for it in some situations. Those are my reasons why I don't think its S tier. Fair if you do, I might test it more because I heard some things left and right about it. If anything, I think it might even deserve a buff.

@@alexandreparent5754If you can catch the bile titan as it's spawning, the arc tends to oneshot it in the jaw. You can also get a lucky (but inconsistent) shot that one shots it while chasing you or a teammate. But if it's already spawned, the odds of a one shot drop drastically to the point of it being better to use an orbital, nuke, or teammate's anti-tank solution. It's pretty decent on the bots, actually. It's able to kill striders, devastators, and commissars/rank and file grunts very easily. Tanks and cannons, you just need to be close enough to get the arc to line up, then it's only a matter of time before it dies. Hulks... are better for your team to deal with, but in a pinch you can bring them down with the arc thrower. But given that the hulk is the ONLY target you struggle with on the bots.. that's pretty good odds when stratagems exist to obliterate said hulks.

Automatons is a whole different beast. Just got pinned down earlier today by 3 tanks and 2 towers. I was prone waiting for them to circle me and hopefully get better positioning. There is no way you can defend against armor with the arc gun or anything other than a railgun. Long story short, i got my ass handed to me. Litteral conga lines of robots chasing each one of us i kept getting getting blown up by tanks and hulks or getting dog piled by like 10 chainsaw robots.

Against automatons, hide behind cover, peek in and out just a little bit. The arc curves around the cover so as long as there are no enemies behind you, you'll melt them automatons. Not recommended against tanks but it can take out everything else, even the cannons and the mortars.

@@Mac-po1sr Honestly, my favorite combo is both. I use the arc thrower, and if I've got a railgun buddy we literally cover each other's weaknesses. (S)he has limited ammo, and needs to pick their shots. I have infinite ammo and can fight anything, but specialize in light and medium armor. I struggle with chargers, bile titans (unless lucky one shot hit while it's spawning), hulks, and potentially awkward angle'd missile devastators or machine gun devastators (more damage than i can reliably tank with the shield in the time it takes to kill). Their rail gun is literally designed for this purpose, able to one shot hulks, devastators, bile titans, two shot chargers.. (with secondary/primary fire, of course). You notice I left out tanks, cannons, and mortars. This is because if I get close enough, they are dead vehicles walking. But, if they are beyond my range of engagement, that is when the railgun comes into play. We share this burden.

Really enjoy the video, be sure to remember to add an extra 10 15 seconds of something after the last part of the video we need to build a c. Because all the tiles that pop up on the screen block out the content. For instance in this video I can't read the majority of the numbers on the stat screen because the tiles showing other KZbin videos are covering it. If you had an extra 5 or 10 seconds of just an outro slide the tiles will then only cover that part.

Since the arc thrower can damage everything in the game and has infinite ammo, your main concern is managing the enemy so you don't get overwhelmed. EMS and EMS mortar can help a lot with maximizing the arc thrower's damage output. Bile titans generally shouldn't be engaged. There is probably a railgunner or someone with heavy stratagems in the team that needs help clearing smaller targets so they can kill that big guy. For chargers, I recommend only shooting it enough to break its armor, then switching to the scorcher or throwing an impact grenade at the damaged spot to kill as quickly as possible. Spending a lot of time on any one target reduces the effectiveness, so focus on weakening things to let your team members finish the job or use a different weapon for high dps when bypassing armor is no longer needed.

That's why it's always good to bring the jetpack to go with the arc thrower. When your position gets overrun fly to a rock. Or use the breaker. I rarely use shotguns because they're so ammo consuming but with the arc gun you only need it for close quarters. If you maintain mid range combat the arc can clear everything, eventually

Fun fact. If you can hit the bile titan while it's first spawning, or from above (i know good luck with that), the arc can hit it in the mouth. If this happens, it one shots the bile titan. I'd wager it's about a 75% chance when it's first spawned, and pure luck and chance once it's already chasing you. But it never hurts to fire a hail mary shot or two at one that's just spawning in the hopes that you get that sweet titan obliteration arc.

I tend to bring the heavy hitters for stratagems since the arc thrower is so good for hordes. Beefy chargers, biles, hulks, tanks, etc get the orbital railgun, rocket pods, 500kg etc to kill or soften. Don’t really need a cluster bomb when your arc can do that in a couple shots and if they get close just pop them with a slugger/breaker.

@@cannibalraptor It's even good on robots. You can reliably engage anything short of a hulk. Yes, even tanks. Because if you get at an angle the tank can't hit, a handful of blasts will kill it. Same with the cannons and mortars. Hulks are the ONLY thing that take long enough for it to be better to have a stratagem or teammate involved. Devastators can be a bit troublesome, but if you avoid the missiles and can get away from the gatling lasers, they're easy enough to knock out. Even works on striders - two shots on average, though RNG can make it 3-4 if you're not lucky. Funny enough, this same logic applies to bile titans. If you get lucky and it arcs into the jaw (easier when it first spawns and is exiting the ground), it one shots them.

Word of advice for video making, when the viewer's focus area is the center of the screen, putting important subtitles/commentary/notes on the side makes it incredibly hard to follow the video, especially with the subscribe popup. Don't be afraid to obscure the gameplay with text, it's the whole reason people are watching the video. Given it's a 3rd person game, the best place would be where subtitles usually are at the bottom center. You should also scale the font up to double the size, when it's centered it will also obey the rule of thirds and make it easier for viewers to keep track of everything happening on sceen. Hope it helps and thanks for sharing, didn't know about the rapid fire after full charge feature.

@@WayaliciousTV Glad it's helpful! Generally try to keep anything you need people to read in the same spot as their eyes are going to be drawn there whenever something changes. So keeping the subscribe bar in the same spot definitely works, just so long as you leave enough time between readable text for people to shift focus form reading mode to watching gameplay (usually around 5 seconds of nothing), then use your subscribe popup, then at least another 5 seconds before readable text again. Helps to just make the video easier to watch and keep a consistent pacing. Subscribed! :)

there's a weird sweetspot on chargers and bile titans where if you're above them, you can shoot their upper back and explode their upper body armor in just a few shots. this leads to you killing a charger in under a dozen shots just with the arc thrower as it somehow hits their entire body and explodes both sides of their back, but bile titans will still take a long time. not sure how this works and it's extremely inconsistent, but you should notice armor breaking more often if you're above an enemy

Its just depends on the angle. If you hit them from the side, the sidearmor wil break. But the armor will eat up all dmg. For example. You need 8 hits on the head to kill ond on impossible. Even if you hit the Charger from the side several times before. You still need 8 shots to the head, to kill it.

You can also try to catch a bile while it's first spawning. If you do, there's a roughly 75% chance that you can take it out in 1-2 shots by getting a lucky mouth shot. If not.. stratagems or consult your local railgunner. Liberty rest your sorry soul.

Surprisingly, everything has its use. The “meta” is kinda a fallacy as the arc thrower and bypass almost every armor type and chain, the flamethrower is hilariously good at blocking bug breaches, I think the expendable rocket launchers are now considered more useful although idk what’s the general opinion.

the arc thrower functions like a real firearm. if you treat it like a real firearm then you won't kill your teammates with it. always know what is beyond your target. in addition having done some testing it seems that the arc thrower will not arc at 90-degree angles. if your teammate is to the side of the bug you probably are safe to fire but in my experience it is best that you do not. I have also learned that the arc thrower does indeed deal more damage when fully charged however the damage is negligible if the enemy is up close. I would only really recommend fully charging the weapon at medium to long range engagements. there also seems to be a few bugs with the weapon when it will either not fire when firing at enemies on a slope or rarely if you are wearing a personal shield. although these bugs are inconsistent and depends on what range you are engaging the enemy

7:04 you stopped using the arc to shoot the titan cuz the bodies were in the way, if you aim up the arc will connect to them at a slight downward angle, like you have a cone in front of you for it to connect, great video though I too am an arc main and this helped a lot, love the jetpack arc trooper look too ;)

Something I noticed when i was using it and quickly incorporated into my gameplay. Aiming the Arc Thrower above the bile titan causes their back armour to crack earlier as the arcs hit that then it tears it apart quicker. Have had instances where i've saved teammate's lives who were running from titans by aiming above the titan in ADS, killing them in about a dozen shots maximum.

Note, if a small enemy is at your feet you will experience a great difficulty in hitting the enemy with the arc thrower. Furthermore if you aim at said enemy then the arc will travel into the ground and not hit other enemies. Therefore I recommend to only use it at long, medium and medium-close range.

By some pure luck, I have slay a titan with 3 to 4 shot of arc thrower. I used jetpack to jump on a high rock that around same hight as titan's face, so I start zapping direct land at its face, after zap it 3 or 4 shot I provoke the part destroy, at it head, thus killed its. I know it is me because other teammate were chasing by chargers so no time to railgun it. Arc thrower is such a funny weapon that even part destroy is semi-random too.

Always fully charge the attack against mid sized targets. It will behead them in one shot. 2 shots commanders to the head. But you dont need chargers to hit with fully charged attacks. Its 8 hits to the head regardless you charge it fully or not.

Be wary of the terrain you're using this in. The arc thrower will hit and arc to trees and other anti democratic shrubbery, preventing hits on bugs or bots, so pick where you fight on forested planets. Also, corpses will give cover to bugs behind them, but you can aim your arc thrower above the corpse and often hit enemies behind it.

as much as i've come around on the arc thrower, and started to use it, still get kicked most of the time i bring it into a mission. the toxic meta has permeated the playerbase(at least it feelsa that way) because if i go in with "meta" and to nothing i dont get kicked, but if i deviate at all i am kicked immediately. cant wait for my friends to start playing so that i dont need to use the public matchmaking...

Ahh yes, i love this weapon, imo every good squad should have someone carrying it at least against bugs since they can't retaliate from a distance, unlimited ammo, so good to deal with large groups of smaller enemies, every ally start to fear you and never try to go in front of you, is effective against armored targets, looks cool, sounds cool, an s tier weapon in my book

Nice guide, and situation awareness teammates. I love the arc thrower, it is a well mixed wit the plasma rifle, hopefully we get more weapon similar to arc thrower design. If my teammates are using weapons that are effective against heavy units, I often run with an arc thrower to preserve ammo.

Ah yes "basic" gaming instinct the thing that drives many people to eat as many rockets as I can fire at times but something for people to keep in mind. The ark can not go backwards from a target so your team should be safe so long as you are shooting at things past them. However remember how far to the sides the lightning travels since if the if enemy's are on the back half of the range any "friends" you have in between will be seen as a valid target first even if you are not aiming at them

The dive button is probably the most broken. I have made it out of swarms like 25 deep just diving over and over while popping a stim. Just dont get hit by a heavy when diving because it tends to send you flying really far.

If you didn't know, you can stand right under the Bile Titan and he won't be able to stomp on you. If you've blown up both his under sacs, he won't be able to spit. But I think for the demonstration you were avoiding that tactic to get basic shots off him.

Note Fellow Helldivers! If you have a scorcher Primary, impact grenades, autocannon or grenade launcher blow up the 2 green SACKs for bonus 50% damage to its total hp on a bile titan. Each SACK is 25% hp. The two green sacks under the armoured plating specifically the Thorax (chest) and the Abdomen (ass). If one of these green SACKs is destroyed it will no longer use its range attack and will try to melee you instead. Easiest way to dodge the melee attack is to approach it at a 45* degree angle with it facing you, to the right of the bile titan and sprint! It has 2 melee attacks, a fast homing impaling jab from its front right leg and a reckless short range fit with both front legs which more often than not helps you out more than it does the enemy! If you run to the left and bring yourself close to its right leg it will impale and 1 shot you. Run right when facing it and you should clear it everytime and stay alive. Good luck cadets! 👍

Good combo for it is Breacher Armor (six grenades come in handy), Jump Pack and Scorcher. For stratagems I prefer to bring 500kg for Titans and last stratagem is probably going to be EMS Strike fornmore control

It's fun. Sadly it takes 2 minutes to down a charger and you can do it in 10s with a Rail.

Because you don't need to take down Chargers with Arcs. Let the Rail handle it. You keep all the other nasty things from overrunning the Rail, so they can focus on taking out big things without needing to dive or change weapons or run. You also pop the bile sacs on a Bile Titan with it whilst killing everything around it, so the Rail needs less shots if they miss the one-shot on the Titan.

They also have a huge vulnerability when they rear up to roar just before charging. Their mouth becomes visible, and they take massive, massive damage when hit in that area. The Railgun one-taps them when shooting there.

Just don't fire it when there's a team mate in a 30° Arc infront of you, !especially if they are behind the target!. Follow that rule and you never TK with it. Getting the firing rythum down is hard, takes a lot of practice.

I’ve had more fun with the arc thrower on high difficulty bug missions than anything else. dominator, arc thrower and guard dog is so far my fav setup. can eat hordes of bugs fully on my own, giving my teammates the space to lineup railgun shots or grab samples

Arc Thrower is the secret OP weapon of HD2. Once you pick it up you'll stop rail gunning forever, and probably drop that wimpy shield pack too. To the Skys, Arc Divers!

I'd like them to add an auto-release firing mode to this weapon. Basically every time you reach max charge, it will discharge it instantly. Then you can just sit there and hold the LMB and watch your kill count go up lol
