Was thinking about this drink and something clicked. I checked my copy of Harry Craddock’s Savoy Cocktail Book from 1930. He published a recipe for Between the Sheets Cocktail as “1 dash Lemon Juice, 1/3 Brandy, 1/3 Cointreau and 1/3 Bacardi Rum”. I think your volumes are a better balance though. But your guess about Harry MacElhorn inventing it might be a good one, as Harry Craddock frequently “borrowed” drinks from MacElhorn.

Very nice cocktail. I’ve had my Barfly tins for a few weeks now and I will say that, it’s surprising how much easier it is to use these than the Boston shaker I had before. I thought I’d have to use like 40 lbs of effort to take it apart but it’s more like 10 lbs. I was probably doing like 50 lbs with the Boston shaker so I figured worst case I’d have a better grip.

One channel had a Valentine's Day Massacre cocktail. It made me smile. I agree, nice to not have a pink/strawberry drink. Between the Sheets is a very appropriate and enjoyable cocktail for the hallmark holiday.

Please try: pear and honey. 1oz of tanqueray gin 1/4 oz of blanco vermouth 1/4 oz of tripple sec 1/4 oz of d.o.m benedictine 3 oz of tonic water in a old fashion glass. Taste exactly like pear and honey.

👍DEFINITELY giving it a try because of the “chocolate cake vibe” but ☝️especially because after one sip, the name changes to “UNDER THE SHEETS”!!!😆🤣😂💞

I have a technical question. I have a French style shaker. Sometimes when I shake drink with a egg white the pressure is just too much. Am I just not holding it tight enough or I need a better shaker?
@TheEducatedBarfly6 жыл бұрын
Andrew666palec the problem with Parisian shakers is they don’t lock, they’re terrible for egg white drinks. I also really dont like the Boston shaker with the glass bottom. I exclusively use Mini Grand and A Grand shaking set. The tins lock and if done properly no mess.
@Andrew666palec6 жыл бұрын
@@TheEducatedBarfly well it's time for me to get a proper shaking kit. Something you guys can take care about? 😂😂

There is a variation of the Between the Sheets in the 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book. Equal parts rum, brandy and Cointreau with a splash of lemon juice. I think the above variation might be better but I will need to try side by side. As always great video and explanation. FYI your collar was rubbing on the mic adding a bit of noise. Nothing too serious just a pointer for the future
@TheEducatedBarfly6 жыл бұрын
Stephane Foisy I know I realized that in editing. Gonna have to wear shorter collars I guess LOL. Good looking out though!

Oh Leandro! You brought a flood of good memories! Oh in my younger days I was a 'frustrated' bartender. I wanted to be one but the cost to go to school!! Anyhoo, I would go to library and read bartending books etc. My friends and I decided one day to have a party. I was in CHARGE of booze and the drink menu. You guessed it...Between the Sheets was one of the drinks and people loved it! Most thought because of the look a light drink....ha! I will always remember this drink being one of the show stoppers. It is really is a good balanced and tasty drink. I enjoyed it. Those were the dayz...sigh....
