Master the FG-Knot: Shore Jigging Tutorial

In this FG Knot tutorial I show you my shore jigging knots. Its very important to make shore jigging knots very accurate and tie the FG Knot for Shore Jigging well. Step by step to the perfect shore jigging knots for fish like Tuna, Amberjack and Dentex. The FG Knot is perfect for shore jigging because it is strong, slim and easy to tie and that's why you can cast it through your RG Guides.
I use this knot for all my fishing from PE 0,4 for LRF until PE 3 for Shore Jigging. Until a braid strength of PE 1,2 you can tighten it by hand for higher PE a tool like FG-Expert is recommended.

Hi Stelio, yes the PR is not necessary for shore jigging in many ways. FG is easier, less line consuming, better casting, doesn't need much practice ect. Greetings bro 🙌

Great tutorial! For me the FG is too much work, I do the Advanced Slim Beauty and never had problems losing a fish. Super fine knot , with almost none abrasion. Always check your knots before fishing 🙌🏻

Hi Yannik, glad to hear that it helps you. For the Solid ring I use a Palomar Knot and then a chain of half hitches (4-8). Tight lines Max

Hi Martin, even if you have a PR Bobbin. 😜 I do and I prefer the FG much more. - less expensive - less line consuming - not much training needed - faster - strength of PR isn't needed - better cast ability Of course I talk for Shore Jigging. Tight lines Max

Thanks man, yes true the FG is a must know knot for every fisherman. The PR is indeed the strongest knot but this theoretical strength is not needed for SJ. The FG did for me the same job and never failed. TL Max

Hallo Max, vielen Dank für das schöne Video! 🙂👍 Gut erklärt und gezeigt! 🤗😊 Trotzdem ist mir der FG Knoten zu kompliziert. Ich nutze den Knoten der Brandungsangler, wie ihn Johannes Dietel vor langer Zeit vorgestellt hat. Zu Beginn hatte ich öfters Schwierigkeiten, dass sich die Schnur im Bereich des Knotens am Leitring verwickelt hat und es zu teuren Abrissen kam!☹ Zwei Dinge mache ich heute anders: Ich habe das Monofilvorfach deutlich verlängert und ich binde den Verbindungsknoten regelmäßig neu! Schnurverbindungen sind empfindlich und sollten ab und zu erneuert werden. So habe ich keine Probleme mehr! 🤗😊 Viele Grüße und allzeit Petri Heil!🙂👍

Hallo Timo, freue mich, dass dir das Video gefällt! Ich höre es immer wieder, dass Leute den FG kompliziert finden, trotzdem mag ich dich motivieren es auszuprobieren. Es ist echt einfach und geht auch relativ schnell. Für die Fischerei im Süßwasser, z.B. Barsch reicht es aus den Knoten mit den Händen zusammenzuziehen. Für den Abschluss reichen vier halbe Schläge! thank you Max some comments: 1. Why you did not burn the leader after the 20 knots making? 2. The finishing I have seen doing other presenters is sort of a reverse wrapping of a series of revs where the end result is to tighten 10 revs on the half inch wraps at the end. Do you recommend only half inch knots for securing it? 3. Hi man, first of all I want to make a in all ways functional knot - I'm not interested in creating a peace of art. 😅 1. Burning the tag end of the leader creates a small bubble that I don't like because it effects the smoothness of the knot going in and out of the guides. Also it's dangerous to work with a lighter close to your braid. 2. In my opinion it's not necessary. Alternating half hitches work perfectly. 3. My total leader length when fishing a 10 foot rod it's about 4,05 - 4,20 m when I cast the jig it is between starter guide and reel. So the leader outside the tip guide is ~ half the leader length. I swing the jig backwards and cast. Of course it depends all on spots and space you have. Tight lines Max

Danke fur deine klare Erklarung.Alles verstanden.Doch wie steht die Situation mit dem FG knot beim Ultra light fishing?Sagen wir Braid 0.06 mit Fluoro 0.23 verbinden.Soll man mehr als 20 Windungen machen? Falls wir mehr Windungen machen , werden die ersten Windungen stark halten?Das ist mir nicht klar.Danke.:)

Hi Ruru, braid 0,6 und 0,23 Vorfach ist gar kein Problem. Binde den Knoten bis PE 0,4 und 0,18er Leader. Ich mache immer 20 Windungen - lediglich die halben Schläge reduziere ich von 10 auf 4, das reicht. Viele Grüße Max

Moin! Leider habe ich dafür noch nicht die optimale Lösung. Benutze den Palomar Knoten mit einer Kette aus halben Schlägen, allerdings bin ich mit meiner Bindeweise nicht zufrieden. Zu viel ungesunder Zahneinsatz. Wenn jemand eine bessere Lösung hat! 🙌 TL Max

Ja bin auch noch auf der Suche… Hab die Knoten von Marco Vidalis benutzt, halten gut aber mir gefällt meine Bindeweise auch nicht 100%. Hab da auch immer ein unwohles Gefühl mit den Zähnen 😂
