I love how you use technical drawing on the piece to start carving on a precisely way .

Rick could you place a list of The Tools and Materials of each video for trying to mimic your prowesses. It will be better to have same tools as yours.

Hi Ricky, I have to say... Yours are some of the best wax carving videos on the Internet! For some reason though you have to do a big of navigating with searches for them to pop up. I thought I'd leave a little comment anyway (my first for KZbin lol) :) Looking forward to you posting some more. Darrian

Hi Rick, Great set of videos! Picked up a couple great ah-ha moments! I have been holding the wax rings in my hands. While carving and very conscious of applying too much pressure. you have your rings mounted on a metal blank and it is marked for symmetry. duh, it just never occurred to me to do that! Did you make that holder or did you purchase a set somewhere? THX again great video! Eddie
@rickmetz42308 жыл бұрын
Hey Eddie. You can buy a set of wax Mandrels from most jeweler supply companies. They run about $90 for a set. I think Matt is the brand. Thank you for watching. Trying to get more videos going.

My young dog watched me as I worked on a wax ring with lots of detail, for about three hours, finished. I was happy she had the patience to sit with me with such interest. I put the ring on the table, to go and have some lunch, when I came back I found my dog was chewing my wax work, into tiny pieces before my eyes. ....😖😫

Hey Legos ,you father is right. I use to get 15 waxes a week now I might get 5.

Rick Metz sad to hear that..
@jonathannumer54158 жыл бұрын
There will always be room for this, maybe not in the "industry" where stacked stones prevail, but most art jewelry will rely on hand made work, because it will always show through, CAD and 3D printers stick out like a sore thumb, and the better they get the more they will stick out... they will lose feeling. they will look sterile
@bedfordshiremodeller44913 жыл бұрын
@@jonathannumer5415 Exactly+you need to wax moulders to create the crown part of the ring that holds the gemstone in place. And that,s not easy to do

Hi Ben. Yes you can do it,it takes lots of practice. I've been carving for 24 years.
@benjaminbondy73668 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that, however there is no medium, artistic or otherwise, even at my most skilled and practiced activities, that I would consider close to your technique and form carving. And though it reeks of self defeat and excuse making, everything I make will be, as kindly as I can put it, organic rather than precise almost to the look of mechanic.
