Hey Andres :) Thanks so much for the kind words! Here's some tennis related vocab - la red = net // el saque = serve // un ace O un saque directo = ace // un revés = backhand // una derecha = forehand // una cancha de tenis = a tennis court // una raqueta = racket // individuales = singles // dobles = doubles

I like that! At some point I remember realizing that "already" should be more like "as of now", which seemed to go better with the meaning of Ya. As of now I have eaten, as of now I don't eat cheese. Anyway, thinking of Ya as "now" helps my mind.

Nicely done 👍 But all this is quite standard in the average textbook or an intermediate grammar book. What about "ya" as a stand-alone interjection? You don't find that usage neither in those books nor in your presentation. It simply means "yes" or - surprise - (English) "ya".
@spanishunraveled4 ай бұрын
Hey Konrad :) Yep, that's a good one! This vid was more of a general overview, but we might do another one on expressions with "ya" soon! Thanks for watching 🤗

ya puedo bailar, ya me baile, ya bailaré pronto tengo no idea si las oraciones son correctas.
@spanishunraveled4 ай бұрын
Hey :) They're actually all correct: Ya puedo bailar = I can dance now (imagine an egg timer ringing to emphasize the "now") Ya bailé = I already danced (egg timer finished ringing + the action is complete) Ya bailaré pronto = I will dance soon (egg timer about to ring + "ya" emphasizes that the action is gonna happen soon!) Hope that helps 🤗

When saying “ya” why does it sometimes seem to start w a y sound and sometimes a j sound?
@spanishunraveled4 ай бұрын
Good question! It varies depending on regional accents and individual speech patterns. In much of Spain and Latin America, the "y" is said kinda like the "y" in "yes." In Argentina and Uruguay, however, it can sound more like "sh" or the French "j" in "jour" :)
