1:36:40: re: ping abuse, while there's a lot of truth to the community doing this to themselves, I also blame Riot a lot because they also go along with it. Either gamers or the LoL community keep coming up with new ways to troll, utilization of normal/good stuff as a toxic thing, new words to insult each other, etc., and when you watch official content and pro games, the casters, analysts, etc., are all aboard on it. Sure, they act like its an innocent thing, only using the terms in innocently sarcastic ways, but from feed/int (as exaggeration) to question marks to [lane] diff, Riot helps normalize these things. Instead of being averse to them and being clear - especially for their hugely young audience and player base - that these are not acceptable attitudes, the words should not be used loosely, etc, they use it themselves, surely because they have to, to be "cool" and feel in tune with the culture. I'm sure they had to sacrifice risking seeming like uptight parents and choose being like them, for max attractiveness and profits. Adults trying to so hard to be in tune with a culture created by unsupervised children, including its negativity, it's almost hypocritical to be saying it's finally too much and it's time to erase these prominent aspects of LoL "culture," after joining in this bad influence to the young players of the world. I get feeling forced to go along with new slang or even bad/ignorant English trends like overusing "actually" or the nonsensical "unironically," but so much should never have been "officially validated" by Riot. And the most egregious case to me is not only going along with the influence of toxic gamer culture, but adding to it: emotes. Many are fine, but when I Iearned about them, I couldn't believe yet another question mark was about to be added. So many mocking, angry, and arrogant emotes were added and have been added since inception - literally adding more fuel for toxic players.
