This was great! Could you do a similar video for the outside edge? TIA

these are the best explanations ever. very thankful for these!!! i've only been skating 3 times so far, all this week, and today i was finally able to hockey stop. I attempted the eagle and i just automatically spin. I am far from being able to even practice it. I used your other eagle for beginners video, but i personally need like a super ultra beginner beginner eagle lesson--ideas for content for you. I am guessing 3:45 this is maybe whats happening on my failed eagle attempts. If i do it right foot forward, i can't get the left foot down at all, let alone balance equally on both, i just spin immediately. I'm looking for an explanation on all the potential pitfalls to learning to do an eagle, as a total beginner with like 1 hour of skate time overall. I did hockey stop on both sides today easily--probably 20 or 30 on each side. But this eagle feels impossible for me. And this eagle is my ultimate weapon, so i need need need to get it ultra down. Thanks!!

What do you mean by not sickle or buckle the ankle?

I had the exact same question! Would be great to get a video going deeper into the big no-no mistakes

Thank you for the reply. When the ankle sickles or buckles the "invisible" line from running from the shin bone thru the ankle is not straight causing the arch and the inside of the heel to drop. There is no need to tip or angle the blade towards the ice to initiate the edge.

@@kurtnicholspowerskating8491thanks for this video with detailed explanation. Such a simple exercise but difficult to actually hold the edge. If you don’t buckle/bend at the ankle, how do you get deeper edges? Is it more knee bend?

She explains it at the start of the video, don’t collapse your ankle for this drill (although ankle collapse is an advanced skill that does come in to play in certain moves)
