It makes sense though. Absolutely spot on, but this, in a way is exactly how they intend to be. Graham, represents the shoulder that you can cry on. He provides constructive criticism without destroying your soul. Gordon is a perfectionist who is completely insulted by dishes that taste bad, and look bad. Gordon takes it easy on people who check at least one of those boxes. If your plate looks like shit, but it taste good, he will find you useful, and vise versa. Joe, represents the Restaurant manager. He’s the guy who will attack your character on top of your cooking techniques because he’s the one who is going to tell you whether you can run a business or not. Its not about what or how you cook, it’s also who you are as a person. If you’re weak, if you’re an asshole, or if you take things too personally, you won’t make it. You will crumble. Joe is the drill sergeant of MasterChef.

I really don't understand everyone saying this judge shouldn't be a judge because he's not even a cook. Do you think every food critics out there are a good cook? There's difference between being gifted in taste and being gifted in cooking. Just like how every musician is not necessarily an audiophile and every audiophile is not necessarily a musician, you can be great at tasting flavors without being able to cook them. Also it is not their job to know every dish either, for people criticizing him for not knowing sausage roll

Exactly. The same thing with movies. Roger Ebert wasn't a director, screenwriter, or actor but he is in many regards the most famous film critic so far.

I don't understand why everyone is berating Joe. It's obvious that the guy is over confident and didn't produce, and when you show up to a show meant to find a master of cooking, sure you should be confident, but don't come without even an ounce of humility.
@crfstewarje6 жыл бұрын
How is he overconfident? Going up to the chefs, he even said that he was afraid his dish wouldn't be that good.

hes confident thats why he does shit that doesnt work most of the time because hes overconfident in his ability but always fucks up trying to do the food his way exactly like joe said and howard then asks you want the same 15 dishes from every one ? that guy is simly too confident but can never deliver

Yes, he is talking like a CEO. It may not sound right in a cooking competition (it should be noted as others have pointed out, he does own successful restaurant(s)] but it is in the right place, a television show. And remember, CEOs are supposed to be good with people and business, they know how to make people like you and me to spend money and also make money in business. So I'm sure he will be hard on the contestants and that's probably why he is there as a judge, so you cannot fault him and JUDGE him for doing his job on the show. If you think he shouldn't be there in the first place, well tell the Producers :)

Gordon Ramsay is all about bringing you back down to reality and forcing you to focus. Gordon's style is more to insult you directly and not pussyfoot with words. He's like a sergeant in a military. Joe Bastianich is more about putting you in your place and keeping you from running before you can walk. He also puts his insults a bit more elaborately and eloquently. He's like a lawyer.

If this were a restaurant situation or if this guy was being a dick, I could understand how Joe reacted. But to my knowledge, neither of these situations occurred. Joe is an asshole. @xip, the problem is that Joe called the chef a narcissistic in denail. Everything about the chef showed that he wasn't confident about his dish. So Joe's comment didn't add up.
@Novistadors3 жыл бұрын
I feel like these videos of Joe being angry put him in a bad light I think. If you don’t know the context of why Joe is so hard on Howard and have never seen Masterchef or watched this season, here are the reasons: He made 3 mistakes and this one being his 4th. Most of his dishes made no sense and he had no clue what he was making. He made chocolate bacon and something random for the first mystery box, and said he was just gonna see if it works out, and didn’t even have a vision on what he was making. The second dish was a salad with barely any langoustine on top with 60 minutes on the clock, and his third mistake was plating raw fish and Howard said he was going to bread and fry the fish and he never did. Also putting Soy Sauce in the rice and making a soy sauce vinaigrette which is literally way too unbalanced and overpowers the flavor of the fish he was going to present. Plus, the judges turning down other higher potential cooks for the competition and Joe putting his name out there for him just adds a lot of salt to the wound. Howard pretty much never cared and always looks ready to cry once they hit him with harsh, yet fair criticism. Howard was only doing it for the money and it sucks that they sent cooks like Sasha and Malcom home early but they actually seemed to actually care about what they were making.
