That is a really unfortunate choice of words! 'Obedience' is not the goal here. It is to listen attentively and make successive attempts to improve a phrase or passage on the advice of Araiza. For heaven's sake, Matej is not a dog (who you send to obedience training school)! I get your meaning, but it really sounds bad to use the word 'obedient'. My hunch is that English is not your first language. Take care.

@@skyhunk If you are getting the meaning why do you criticize a comment written to deal with Araiza's totally exaggerated "conducting" in an ironic way? After all, it is a masterclass for singers and not for conductors. Irony requires stronger than usual wording.

@@jenspflug7473 Yeah, though he does have a point, the way he tries to convey things to his student is silly. Often great singers are bad teachers. Really the student should ask Araiza to sit down and stop gesticulating in the private space of the singer. Yuck, I really hate it when 'masters' start poking i singer's ribs and what not.
