As a fan of all things horological, let me be the first to comment that a watch movement is a much simpler mechanism than a modern combustion engine, under lesser demands from its performance environment. By orders of magnitude. I will concede that the scale at which the respective mechanical tasks occur is more impressive in a watch, particularly due to the accuracy required and resulting specialization of production machines and techniques.
