Just watched this after watching the most recent GSL round with Stats and Classic playing against Dark. The way MaxPax plays is on another level, like you can feel it just by watching it. You can see how well he studies the maps. He's made a fanboy out of me the past year. A Swede being a fanboy of a Dane at that...

Dude just using machine learning to play Starcraft online. In the other words, he's cheating. That's also why we would never see him at the offline event, he would perform like a platinum player. It's just sad seeing actual pros getting humiliated by an online hero

That Stats vs Dark series was amazing to watch! Edge of my seat each game. I hope MaxPax does some LAN tournaments soon so we can see him under that pressure and see the level of his micro at those speeds

Ok I know supply isn't everything and Roaches are supply-heavy, but Dark gave up game one when he was slightly up on supply. I get that he felt frustrated not being able to expand, but was he really that far behind? Sure he might need MaxPax to make some mistakes or something to get a win, but this felt premature to me. If someone can explain why Dark thought MaxPax was so far ahead (especially through the lens of Dark with limited vision), I'd appreciate it. Oh wow, game 4 is the same story. Maybe Dark just has a better read of the result of a game despite having less vision. It might be something I'd have to learn from experience of being in a situation like that and seeing the end result.

As a MaxPax fan, it's super sad that he's not competing at the offline tournaments. Obviously, his skill is absolutely elite-tier. He's probably sacrificed $100k or more.

Dark is one of the only top zergs that can reliably pull that off. If it gets defended he's way down on eco

At 5:10 (in game, so 16:11 video time), Dark stops making workers. A minute later at 6:07, MaxPax finally stops making workers. MaxPax identifies the attack, but doesn't respond well. He's making upgrades that wont finish on time, because he over-invested in a worker harassment (Oracles and Adepts). He doesn't have enough Gateways to pump out defensive units (because he was being greedy going for an economic advantage and didn't plan for an all-in response). Instead of making more Gateways, he makes Cannons. These don't trade well against Ravagers, but he's kinda forced into this because he misread the situation and didn't react to the push well enough/soon enough. I don't know if hindsight or more experience letting MaxPax react sooner and better would be enough to eventually defend this all-in. But I do know that it wouldn't look nearly this dominant if Dark didn't outplay MaxPax super hard with his response. It's not a race or a balance issue, it's a skill issue. Many Zerg players would've reacted less brilliantly and likely lost, with how huge of an economic lead MaxPax had so early in the game.

That comment was typed by Mapu, the observer. If I'm reading the description right, this is an old game back when the buyout was pretty fresh and a lot of people were joking about Elon killing Twitter. You don't have to be a woke leftie to make their jokes when relevant. But Mapu very well could be a woke leftie based on that comment that hasn't aged well (given Twitter is still doing fine and the best platform for following celebrities). I don't know enough but I doubt Artosis is.
