If you shoot color photography, why wouldn't you want to master the color of those photographs? Think about this for a moment. As photographers, as visual artists, we try to control everything possible in order to create the photograph we want. We make decisions on shutter speed, depth of field, we fiddle with contrast, highlights, and shadows. All of this part of the creative process of course.
So, why would we NOT master the color as well?
For many, adjusting the color of a photograph is limited to white balance and maybe a touch of saturation in the Basic panel under the Develop Module of Lightroom. If this is you, if this is the extent of your color adjustments, you are likely missing out on what I consider to be one of the most important features of Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw.
In this video, I use a photograph of a young alligator whose head is sticking out of a dense mat of floating vegetation known as duckweed. The photograph was taken in a dark forest, just before sunset. And the color of the duckweed was recorded as various shades of yellow. I am going to show you how to work with the HSL panel - the Hue / Saturation / Luminance - to master color in your photographs like a professional.
One of the limitations to photography is that our cameras do not always accurately record colors the way we see them in the field. Spring greens, such as the natural color of this duckweed, is notorious for experience color shifts. This video will teach you everything you need to understand and use Lightroom and ACR's color editing tools.

You've got to be one of the most knowledgeable photographers out there. Great explanation of these color concepts. ISO 10,000? Guessing this was a D5 shot, given how clean it looks.
