Any more info on the model of Yuki rod?
@MattCroweAngling2222 ай бұрын
It's a yuki saiko beach ledgering rod mate, twin tip. Rrp is about £150. Type in saiko beach ledger on Google and they come up instantly. Cheers for watching buddy. 🎣🎣

The tip on that rod is more like a freshwater quiver tip. I know you were there to prove a point Matt, but I think I’d give it a miss if I had to resort to those tactics & those size of fish. I know as you say “a fish is a fish “ but that style of fishing isn’t for me. Great content in the video though. Thanks Matt.

Great video of actually how it is 95% of the time on our coast. As you say it's fishing , not catching. Cheers

One of my least favourite beaches but I enjoyed watching that whilst doing the washing up! Also reminded me to ask, do you still have any relationship with Grauvell? I'm desperate to pair my Vertix Unyx but can't find one anywhere!
@MattCroweAngling2222 ай бұрын
@gregdiaper3253 hi mate firstly thanks for watching. Gravell ceased trading mate a few years back, they have started making a comeback abroad but nothing in the UK from what I can tell unfortunately.

Looks like carp fishing gear to me, I wouldn't trust that set up on any British beach, could be ok for summer time estuary fishing tho.
@MattCroweAngling2222 ай бұрын
@Billywhizz-bl7yj each to their own buddy, this setup is perfect if used in the conditions it's meant to be used in. Obviously I wouldn't trust it fishing a massive tide on the Bristol channel or somewhere like that 🎣🎣 cheers for watching also.

Correct me if I’m wrong but surely with a tapered leader the heavy end should be where the strain is highest when casting, ie. at the lead/rig end not as you inferred by saying “on the reel”. I trust it was just a mis-explanation on your behalf but newbies might end up with a few crack offs and curse you and your otherwise excellent videos.
@MattCroweAngling2222 ай бұрын
You are correct mate it is the other way around, mis explanation on my behalf. I had dogs trying to eat my bait and members of the public constantly around me whilst trying to film which took my attention away at times from what I was saying. Good spot and thank you for bringing it up.
@paulvandermaas66392 ай бұрын
Reverse leader does not make sense. You talk of having the thin line at the rig end? Dangerous. For 115 g rod, ie 4oz, you need at least a 40lb leader or 40lb braid straight through. That would be my choice.
@paulvandermaas66392 ай бұрын
Sorry. You obviously mispoke during your explanation. Be well and be safe

Totally pointless using a tapered leader if you are using it the wrong way round, the thin end goes too your main line to keep the knot small and the heavier end takes the shock of the cast. edit : just saw the other replies mentioning this and you say you misspoke, it was the thin 15lb at rig and to prevent drag on the line in the tide that made me think you had spoken correctly and just had it fitted wrong.
@MattCroweAngling2222 ай бұрын
@DelDredd mis spoken comment mate that unfortunately was missed whilst editing. Can't really tie a tapered leader on wrong as it comes off the spool the correct way when tying. Well spotted though 🎣🎣
