Mastering Dynatrace Request Attributes

Dynatrace automatically traces end-to-end transactions thanks to its PurePath technology. While Dynatrace already captures a lot of contextual information on each PurePath we can leverage Request Attributes to capture additional information such as HTTP Request Parameters, Headers, Cookies or Method Arguments and Return Values.
In this Performance Clinic session Andreas Grabner, Global Technology Lead at Dynatrace, does a deep dive hands-on on how to configure request attributes, use them for diagnostics, filtering and covers some of the more advanced topics such as custom request naming based on request attributes.

Hi Andreas, How can we call the environment API (metrics/query) and filter using a request attribute? I can't find a document with this. Can you help me? Thanks!

Hi. You need to create calculated service metrics and eg: split your metric by request attribute. Then you can use the API and filter on one of those dimensions.

Since we recorded that performance clinic lots of new things got introduced in dynatrace. I suggest you check out the latest perf clinics on Metrics Expressions. There are a lot of things possible with those expressions.
