Tip #11: Pallets are a waste of space now that Elven and Ornamental Chests exist. You can fit 2 ornamental chests in the space of 1 pallet and hold a boatload more resources. Plus, you can use floor tiles for shelving to make even more storage space. I like having a couple coal pallets purely for aesthetic reasons, but storage should be focused on chests (unless you like the look). Tip #12: Save those Black Diamonds, especially early game, they are a required material at 3 separate points in the game (a total of 80 will eventually be needed purely to unlock new areas). That doesn’t mean you have to avoid placing any fast travel points but don’t go overboard either (later game enemies drop them pretty regularly so eventually you won’t have to stress it). Tip #13: Resist the urge to make a base at the first location you come to at the start of the game. You have to do a little bit, but don’t invest too much time and effort in building that place up. A much better location is literally right ahead of you. Tip #14: Solo combat can be overwhelming until you realize you can pretty much jog away from enemies and few of their attacks will actually connect. Always stay on the move, and when the time comes for… larger defensive action, use the doorways as choke points to bottleneck those filthy orcses. Tip #15: Always upgrade to the best gear you can. If your dwarf comments on needing something more powerful that’s a hint to start looking for the next best thing (although some enemies are just super tough regardless). Tip #16: Stone is the worst material for building multi-level bases. The stability runs out very quickly, so unless you want a 1st floor filled with pillars, use literally anything else for the second floor (the third material is pretty damn good but you won’t get it until later). Tip #17: Buffs are very helpful, so build those treasure piles (and fill them with treasure), memorials, and eventually, BEER!!! On the beer note, always hold the button down to sing and drink something before bed (I have one just for Evening Ale for this purpose). It will give you a random long lasting buff for the following day. I better stop : ) Great beginner tips video though. A lot of people miss those statues and don’t realize why they keep getting throttled wondering when they might get some armor. Honor Durin and he’ll honor you.

Pallets are great, but they take up a ton of space... unless you notice a simple thing that the game doesn't inform you of unless you try placing it incorrectly; they can be placed *on walls*. Place all your pallets up above and free up your ground space for more important things!!! Not only that, but if it's something that you don't interact with much, you can even stack the pallets so they interlink with each other; just make sure you have enough room between them to shift view and select a different one! I personally use a single layer of the raw resource as the gap height measure.

@@thiefah Here's another one: Pallets are great... except they have absolutely terrible storage efficiency. A pallet of Coal takes 275 pieces, that's tons, right? Well, a simple Wood Chest, which takes up about 1/4th the footprint... is about 720 pieces of coal (24 slots (4x6) x 30 pieces per stack). Similarly, stone is a whopping 2,376 pieces per chest, vs. the very lame 175 per pallet. A way to organize storage and not make it look messy or overlap graphics (which can mess with your GPU if overdone) and to still be able to tll at a glance what is stored where is to throw down a pallet on a wall for a material, then put chests below it and fill it up with that. Similarly, you can use farm plots to mark chests for growable types (eg. I separate mushrooms, herbs, veggies, fruit, and edible animal products out into different chests, and while there aren't fruit or edible animal product farmables or pallets, you can do something like put the brew still and ovens by the fruit and edible animal products; you could also have hide and hide scraps with the edible animal products and have the loom as the marker for that chest or pair/group of chests, too). This is more for those people that abhor messy bases, though; I just follow a system of chests placed in specific spaces and I always know which chest is which, but then, I also play solo).

Regarding tips 6 & 7 for the orc camps. Make it a priority to destroy the banner that drops the key especially if you are having a difficult time wiping the camp out. Destroying this banner will prevent any future goblins & orcs from spawning (same for the spider eggs) and if you die when you return they will all be gone. You could even cheeze the battle by destroying this totem/banner and then running out of the area they are in because when you return they will all begone, but so will any loot that you would get from killing them. 😁

There's another quick-craft button you missed; F. It quick-crafts a rope ladder, which is very valuable when you need verticality!

@@thiefah No problem! It's one of those things I only found out by going into the keybind menu. There's also a quick deconstruct key, but it's by default bound to the same key as crouch, which takes precedence, and I never want to quickly deconstruct anything on the fly, because that usually means either stranding me or sending me to my death, so.... I'm fine with that, lol.
@thiefah9 ай бұрын
@KainYusanagi yeah I haven't found much need for deconstruct on the fly either
