Amazing video! I also struggled as you trying to understand this mosaic thing in APP. Your video definitely validated my findings and also serves me as reference if I forget something. Thanks for this. You’re doing really well. Very nice pictures by the way! I just subscribed, keep the good work.

In my few years doing astrophotography and using pixinsight I’ve struggled with my mosaics to hide the stitch. I’m trying out app for the first time tonight (stacking last panel now, I May return tomorrow after work, very tired 😂) hopefully following your video I’ll have a better result!

I'm working on a 12 panel mosaic of the Vela Supernova remnant so far have 6 panels and a few to go thanks for some of the tips as I am an APP user and the star analyser was a good tip, same for scale start to 5

Great video. Totally agree that APP is fantastic at producing mosaic and I think way way easier than Pixinsight's method.

Hi Dave. You've done a very nice work flow video on mosaics. I've tried my hand at mosaics using APP with horrible results. I still have the data and I'll try again using your steps. I'd also like to compliment you on how present your astro-evenings. I feel like I'm looking over your shoulder. It's very realistic and it's much like my evenings out in my Tucson backyard. Clear Skies!

Thanks! I try to let folks see what it is like to do astrophotography, especially since my goal is often to automate the process as much as possible. And for others to see the typical failures in that attempt LOL!!! CS!

Great video and well presented. I'm currently trialing APP as I'm a PixInsight user. I'm creating a 16 panel (2x8) mosaic (osc capture). I have already got each of the 16 panels stacked in PI and ready to be consumed in APP. I have already tried attempting this in APP and failed. So the way I did it was assemble each row. And to assemble each row I loaded all 8 panels in a single session and it joined them successfully. After two runs I had row 1 and row 2 ready. So now using same mosaic settings in APP I loaded both rows under a single session, I got a warped and weirdly shaped mosaic. Any tips here ?

Try loading each row (assuming that it is now one image file) as a separate session. I first made the mistake of loading all my panels as the same session. When you do you get some crazy stuff. Each panel (or in this case row) will need to be a separate session. You might find that it will resolve the problem. Also want to validate your scale stop (see Register tab) and make sure that you have checked Use Dynamic Distortion. I am assuming that they are from the same camera and the same telescope (hence the same focal length?). Good luck and CS!
