Can we repeat words in Précis writing if their meanings are difficult

How can one write that "the writer wanted to.." (2016 precis) if using the words like "according to the author" and "writer" is not appropriate? Isn't the other precis are autobiographical where they had used word "I"? I think they are also autobiographical if they are talking about their beliefs and experiences in their lives. How can one skip the word "I" and be a writer himself in some precis, while "writer wants" etc in others. These exceptions are so confusing 😮...
