I know this is probably so old that you won’t see it, but this video is extremely helpful!!! I’ve been struggling with a wake to wake jump for 2 years and this video literally let me do it first try! Thank you so much, and continue the amazing work man! Cheers!

I love the videos. I'm almost 50 years old and started watersports at an early age. Learned to wakeboard more than 25 years ago but never really learned tricks. didn't ride much then but now I'm interested in learning some simple tricks and eventually a tantrum. Thanks for all the tips.

Cheers! Thanks for the bottle pendulum example and for your How to's! Really appreciate them! Amazing how I screw-up the progressive edge when such a simple concept, yet feels so technical when thinking about doing a trick. Def need to keep thinking UP first then trick. 360 is my nemesis! I just watched that video of yours too. I'll be sac'n up to hold the handle longer... I tend to wuss out and start to spin on the way up! HA.

Thanks for the video! I just started wakeboarding this season, and I have to say I have already experienced that faceplant from a badly performed surface 180 while trying to learn to start switch and go back to regular. I'll at least know what is happening when I start winding my arms like a windmill on a toe-side jump!

Started wakeboarding years ago I wish your videos were around then,especially for the bankroll to one wake, nobody ever suggested the boat driver shoul drop the power once the riders in the air inverted .. I’m 52 now but still fancy learning bankrolls and tantrums, do you run courses in Ireland in the summer

Nice video. Your "roll the windows" example was very helpful...that's exactly what happens to me if I don't commit all the way through the wake (except more often than not I don't recover and slide out on my heels.) Do you have any tips on how to keep this from happening? I don't have this problem at all on my heel side but for whatever reason I still make this mistake fairly often on toeside even though I've been able to clear the wake toeside for several seasons now.
@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder
@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder 9 жыл бұрын
David Williamson Hey David. Nice name!! haha First of all. Apologies for taking so long to reply, I was a way and had crappy internet. Yeah,. So normally when the winding of the windows happens, it is toeside, and it's 99% of the time cause by ever so slightly coming off a PROGRESSIVE edge. So you might still be edging, but not progressing it if that makes sense. So just try to contsantly build build build that edge, and it should solve the problem :)

David, your video's are really cool! Do you think you could do one on HS FS 3's or TS FS 3's for some of us who have 180's down but not ready for the whirlybird? Your editing is great, and makes it really easy to get what your throwing down. Keep making more of them! Hoping I can tag you in a stomped 3 video soon!

@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder
@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder 8 жыл бұрын
hum, to break a mental block is touch Rob. I'd say try and slow it right down, and try and just practice the standing tall movement on some 1 wake. That way it won't really go wrong if you crash yeno?

@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder
@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder 8 жыл бұрын
yeah i gotcha, for air tricks? it takes playing around with it, like figuring out. I would say, count from 1-3 and pop at 3 (1 = weak edge and 3= strong edge). does that make sense?

@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder
@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder 9 жыл бұрын
Andy Yeung Hey Andy, I guess it's about telling your mind to do something. It's not terribly important to have the handle/hands touching your body as I know it can be very tiring to do so (although the closer the better), but it is important to have them on the same level/ hight. So waist hight!. But as I said, it's about making yourself do it for a while, and then muscle memory will make it natural. I hope that helps you out a bit :)

Hi david, I am improving my wake to wake jump, I am just a couple of feet of reaching the other wake. My question is, when you meet the wake and pop you need to "flatten" the board, comming out of your edge for the board not to cut the wake, or countinue with your strong edge right up to the "pinacle" of the wake? Tnks very much ! Your channel is awesome !!!

David how long did it take for you to learn the basics? because when i first stand on a wakeboard i didn't fell (i was directly standing up on the board) except when i tried to move around i became shaky and than i fell :p pulling on the cord i think
@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder
@DavidOCaoimhWakeboarder 8 жыл бұрын
Dennis, yeah that's possible, try to keep those arms straight at the start. It took a long time, however, each time you get better and better, and more and more comfortable, so the progress becomes addicting, and then you don't even notice learning. It's awesome!

Robert Sanchez Hey Robert, It's sort of a combination of carving, and gettting low too. If you find it hard to get wake to wake. Sometimes it's easiest to shorten in the rope 10 feet and then the wake is narrower. Learn the technique at that length, and then slowly let the rope back out :)
@robert95z

Just really different. Another great video.....thank you laddy....send you a snap of me going, going.....stopping at first after the first wake being confused between boarding and slalom skiing!! You should make a conversion video for people like me!!! Boarding 101 for slalom dummies hahahhaha

Thank you, David for getting deep into the basics of wakeboarding. Please, keep the good work! I actually watched a lot your tutorial vids this season, especially the ones made at cable parks. These all helped me a lot in my learning curve. I put together a small compilation at the end of my season to show how good my progression went. So if anyone of your viewers wonders how many training days you need to manage your first obstacles, this is where progression track is after hitting big and small cable parks 40 times: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4TdqoqXpJKdisU

Hey. I’m a complete newcomer at wakeboarding and I’ve been through something like 5 sessions. I’m starting to enhance, like having fun with kickers, but I’d like to share something. I had two crashes this morning like the first one you had when you looked down. I don’t really know whether my ribs are cracked or if it just a muscle injury, but goddammit that still hurts like hell when I breathe in. Do you have any recommendation to avoid such injuries when falling like that? I’ll go for the prevention way not looking down, but it might happen again I guess. I have a video of mine with the crash footage (here kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIu0eaeejtB8brs ) if anyone would like to comment. Anyway, thank you for channel, it’s super fun and I’m learning through it (and pretty quickly when on the water thanks to you)!
