Not an aficionado; just a longtime enthusiast. For me, the cigar experience...whether with good company or not...is about the _ceremony,_ which brings enjoyment before I've had even one puff. Between work, family, and a locally successful band, my schedule is packed, so _making_ myself take an occasional hour (or so) to _willfully ignore_ the rest of the world and focus on a pleasurable _process_ is highly therapeutic. I make every _exhale_ last as long as I can, and (assuming the smoke has a good flavor, creamy thickness, and smooth retrohale) the smoke becomes a _visual representation_ of my stress, as I watch it leave my body, swirl in the breeze, and eventually dissipate into the air and blow away.

You're spot on being differences between smoking cigars indoors vs outdoors. Pipes are the same way. Can be a huge difference.

My cigar smoking time, whether I just have one per day or multiple, is my therapeutic time like a lot of people say. Thinking time, time to reflect and. Enjoying my smoke puff by puff.

I smoke much less frequently these days Tim. I still enjoy smoking cigars, but I find when I just have one a week, I tend to enjoy them and the experience more. Maybe just me. I really like the "test driving" part of it as well. What am I in for this week? Hopefully not to get nauseous, lol!

The only thing I can add, which you did touch on Tim, is time. If you don't have the time to commit to a good cigar, don't light it. Personal, I take well over an hour to smoke a robusto. Toros obviously longer. Make the time to take your time.

@nathanhawee5373 Why? I enjoy the cigars I smoke. There is no need to rush. The time I make to enjoy a good cigar is my time. I rush through so many things in my life. It's good to slow and take as long as it takes.

Tim touched on eliminating distractions so to focus on the cigar’s flavor and experience, I recommend listening to soft instrumental type music, e.g. Tycho on your headphones to accomplish this when enjoying a cigar

I have been EXPERIENCING some less-than-premium cigars that actually offer a great EXPERIENCE…lol. I took a Bahia Blue for a walk today. After EXPERIENCING a few bad burn issues, I EXPERIENCED a great EXPERIENCE with a cigar that was actually a decent smoke! I’m glad for cheap cigars that give me a nice EXPERIENCE while on a daily walk. I’m headed out to EXPERIENCE a few stores then I’m going to EXPERIENCE a great cigar on the front porch before fixing the Christmas dinner I will EXPERIENCE with my stepmom tomorrow! Merry Christmas, everyone and STAY SMOKEY!

I find I also puff on a bad cigar more often just to get through it and not smoke it again. When I get a cigar I like I tend to savor the taste and even puff not often enough and have to relight it! 😊 I do love it when I find a cigar I like!

I tend to have the same issues when puffing. Either too fast/too many or too slow that I have to relight. I will still classify myself as a newbie (been smoking over year and half now), still learning and trying to perfect the rituals. Like to try new cigars and brands, but it's become stupidly expensive here in UK! Love Cigars Daily!

My wife and her mother got in the biggest fight last night at Christmas Eve dinner. I had to throw a Davidoff Yamasa Piramide in the fire with at least 70% left to prevent hands being thrown around. I'm still not over having to kill that cigar! 😢

That ember coffee mug sounds great for my desk at work. Get yourself a Yeti coffee mug for travel/commuting, I have a 1/2 hr drive to my office and can sip on the way and have my coffee still nice and warm by my first break (if it’s not gone already). Not sure your preference on coffee, I would highly recommend Black Beards Delight by Black Riffle CO. When pairing they have many blends to complement your cigar blend. For experience smoking, my some best cigars have been on a walk in my woods with a nice cup of coffee. You hit the nail on the head about the company you keep while smoking, a cheap cigar with good company is better than the opposite. I also find that haven’t a quiet, calm, and tranquil smoking spot enhances the experience. I live in a very rural area, when the weather is nice a spot in the woods or my picnic table under a tree is perfect. In the winter I resort to a picnic table in my garage with a fan venting smoke out of a window. On that note, a well ventilated are is a must. There is nothing worse than choking on second hand smoke.

Timing of ur draws: I like to picture my cigar as being on life support, picture an ekg, when I draw I breathe out slightly to purge then I draw in think up then down then flatline when not drawing I try to see how long each cigar can go without a draw creating the ekg line of flat, up, down and back to flat remember ur cigar is on life support and can’t handle big or rapid movements u want just enough to keep it quietly alive. Make game out of it, if ur cigar goes out bring in the defibrillator (the lighter) and bring back and try to establish a better rhythm that keeps it alive

I like to exhale as I put the cigar to my lips so I blow the smoke away from the tip of the cigar, and as I puff I breathin through my nose so I can smell the sweet roasty toasty notes!

Cut, my experience ( not necessarily yours) is different sticks smoke different when cut differently. Personally I’m a 52 ring( minimum) box pressed Maduro. That’s not to say that that is the only cigar I smoke. But 52 ring minimum I’ve got round cigars in my humidor.Cut, I rarely straight cut. Punch cut or v cut especially @home. But, my experience has been some sticks smoke different when cut/ better cut a certain way.

Like you said- slow down. I tend to smoke way to fast when they're good, which makes them less good. I learned this from Nick Perdomo early on. Puffing to much will ruin a quality smoke. Sadly, I still smoke to fast often. Usually, setting it down and concentrating on something else for a few minutes to let it cool/settle will bring it back.
