Nothing beats the feeling of landing a trick you've been trying to land for a long, long time. Anyone out there trying to learn hardflips, just keep at it. And remember, that back foot is crucial.

Explain more on the back foot, been trying for years
@Serdy Жыл бұрын
@@joshb9657 There are many ways of explaining a trick, but the way I used to teach people hardflips was to position your back foot further back on the tail, like he says in the video, and then look down at your board. Look at your board and imagine it's one half of a "V", with the other half being an imaginary line in front of you. When you go to pop your board, you want your back foot to push in the direction of that imaginary line. If you do it a few times without trying to flick the board at all, you'll be able to focus on where you're sending your board with your back foot. If you're goofy, your board is the right side of the "V" and your imaginary line is angled to the left. If you're regular, then that imaginary line is the right side of this "V". When you pop, your back foot pushes in the path of the imaginary line and your board should naturally follow a mostly vertical path. Once you understand what your back foot is supposed to do, you can start to add in the front foot to flick it. I've found that with hardflips, your front leg needs to bend at the hip a bit more than if you were trying something like a kickflip. If you've ever messed around with playing hacky sack, it's a very similar motion that I'm describing. I hope this helps and isn't confusing.

no lie, i landed my first hardflip today after trying them hard for 4 days straight. i know that sounds like a little amount of time but i have fs shuvs and kickflips on lock so it came natural. it felt so good

For anyone having problems: try positioning the backfoot like you're doing a tre flip (literally grasping front edge of the board with your toes). When popping, pop as a fs shove it (but like i said, foot in a tre flip/bs shove it position). With a minimum hardflip flick from a front foot, the board should automatically flip into a hardflip. Also legs close together, and the flick from the front foot isn't like a kickflip, but more subtle - you wanna get that front foot out the way asap.

This is how i do them in SW

@@madjc13yep, as soon as I started doing them with my back foot in a tre flip position on the tail (instead of the fs shove it position), they 'unlocked' for me.

Scooping/pushing the tail forward with the backfoot is key. That's why sometimes you see people who aren't great switch skaters can do switch hardflips well. This is because their dominant foot is on the tail when they ride switch and it makes this important scooping/pushing the tail forward action easier. I had a friend who couldn't do hardflips or frontside flips between the legs riding regular stance, but he could do them switch sometimes.

It's an easy trick to flip. The commitment part is the hardest. It's kinda flipping behind you like a front shove.
@MrJustinsideher Жыл бұрын
With the commitment part I have noticed the pre load and almost pre pop like how u get ur body up (spring) with getting higher tre flips. So really squatting and timing to get ur body up so u can commit. Another fluid way to do this subconsciously (for me) is the "eagle wings" method, I made this word up. But u can see Darnell walkers hands as he pops and lands. Imagine exadurating[typo ;) ] these hand and arm motions like eagle wings almost. If u understand this abstraction. it will get ur body up & as long as u squatted, popped, the timing is working out on the board motions, and if ur in the air and ur arms ar up at peak hight and the board flips before the land u should be able to stick and commit. If it is not flipping and u have not credit carded by now, at least this will give u air time to work out the board flip mechanics or maybe get some other lofty cool trick lol. Hopefully if this is not to abstract & Hopefully I will not b committed to an asylum lol, jk. *Alternatively seeking advice on front foot flip because I back foot the heck out of myn and have seen some confusion on if it is a hard flip, 2.5' pressure flip(on a good day bud), or other due to me getting my front foot out of the way.

No matter what I try I can’t do them. I get so close but I mess up the flick when I go to jump. Lately I’ve tried to kick flip early and do a normal fs pop shiv and I get so close to landing them I feel like I can almost do it but I’m missing something. I might just not be committing fully.
