Might I ask if it is worth returning to the game at this point under current conditions? I left because the core gameplay got a tad boring, and think that I might be able to return for a few months even with lower pop. Also started using ubuntu, but the game seems to take sideloading surprisingly well for what a spaghetti monster it is, so that should be a non-issue.

it's worth playing if you enjoy the game if you aren't feelin' it I'd say just keep playing other things until you're in the mood
