Reports on Squatter Problems are ALL over the places in US mainstream media. Do your homework before you accuse others. The laws, as stated in this clip, vary by State. The 1 month limit is a NYC law. Other States have other limits. While trespassers can be arrested, it has been widely reported that once squatters are able to show fake lease contracts, which are easy to get, the police can no longer evict them.
